In compliance with a new rule mandated in December, the University of South Carolina has been fined $5,000 for the crowd storming the court after the big win over Big Blue. Universities will be fined an increasing amount(10k, 25k, 50k) for repeat occurences. I can understand wanting to protect the players, coaches, refs, and so on. One of my finest memories is storming Neyland after the 85 Auburn football game. Will the fines be a deterrent to fans to stay in the stands? How does the Gamecock faithful feel about the fine?

I think it is a ridiculous rule! Protecting players and fans is one thing, celebrations another.
I don't recall anyone being killed at any of these celebratory hooplas.
It falls in the same category as the stupid "celebration" rule (coincidence?), brought about mainly, if you will recall, by Steve Tanneyhill's antics a few years back (harmless and fun).
I saw that on CNN headlines news this morning, they showed the storming of the court and then talked about the fine, more great press for USC, first the fight, now this, and thing is, if you watch the video, it looks like any other school that pulls an upset, yet we're the ones who get fined. BTW there were about 17,000 people at the game, so we're talking more or less 30 cents per person unless you were referring to the amount just on the court.....
