 The fine is on the high side! its not that often an unranked team beats a top 5 team. The fans deserve a little euphoria. Gosh i wish we had the " Ole Ball Coach".

Student gov't already offered to pay the fine. It will be interesting to see if the Athletic Dept. accepts the offer.

The players loved it. The fans loved it. Nobody got hurt. Having said that, fans and students need to refrain from rushing the court(this is my official opinion ;) )

In compliance with a new rule mandated in December, the University of South Carolina has been fined $5,000 for the crowd storming the court after the big win over Big Blue. Universities will be fined an increasing amount(10k, 25k, 50k) for repeat occurences. I can understand wanting to protect the players, coaches, refs, and so on. One of my finest memories is storming Neyland after the 85 Auburn football game. Will the fines be a deterrent to fans to stay in the stands? How does the Gamecock faithful feel about the fine?

I am curious as to how many people have been injured or how much damage has been done by storming the court or field. I can understand the concerns when goal posts are torn down or property is damaged, but isn't the NCAA going overboard with these fines. If there is a long history of injury directly related to storming the field, I would agree, but I bet there have been more serious injuries from small group gatherings at fraternity houses. Do we ban those too?

It's an SEC rule.
