Great win for USC to move back on the bubble...been reading the UK boards and guess the general feeling in the one pony town of Lexington Ky, is like when we lose to Kentucky in football...just plain embarassing.

It was a great win---almost makes up for the Auburn loss.

Hopefully, we can carry the momentum into the SEC Tournament.

I have never been one to care anything about BBall but I saw spurrier on it and decided to watch, I really enjoyed it. By the By, hearing that rooster crowing at the end almost put me into withdrawl symptoms of not having gamecock football for a few months.

I just don't really understand the rules of basketball, I don't know about what the fouls are, I think that is why I could never really get into it.

It's alright, I don't really understand all of the rules either. I usually have to ask cocky4ever (my hubby) a million questions during the game to figure out why the refs are calling stuff right and left. I probably get on his nerves a lot doing that..ah hem. ;)

Yeah....great win for us...

But I'm madder than ever now about the losses to Auburn and Clemson.

As much as I love football, I love basketball even more and this USC team can be agonizing to watch.....they drive you crazy!!

If only Odom could recruit......

Absolutely. Hard for me to fathom not being into basketball. How things have changed.

Then again I go back to the McGuire years so I remember when Columbia was a basketball-first town....

What I really don't get are the folks who claim to like a minor sport like COLLEGE BASEBALL, but not college basketball, which is, along with college football, one of the two major revenue sports.

Like it or not, those two sports (football and basketball) are the sports every athletic program is judged on first and foremost. They bring in the most revenue and publicity. All the CWS appearances in the world will never make up for lousy football and basketball in the eyes of the national media and the rest of the SEC.

We Gamecocks have to be consistent winners in at least one of the two. I don't care which.....but give me one of the two!!

I knew South Carolina was pretty good.

They played great defense especially on some of those blocked shots.

Huge win for you guys.

Maybe we will see ya again in Atlanta...

South Carolina should make the dance if they take care of business the rest of the way.

LSU too after beating Mississippi State last night. :(

I have to admit there are alot of sore losers in KY. If you know anything about college basketball you should not be to embarassed, your team played great.

Kentucky did play bad on offense, but alot of that was the Carolina defense.

Not for me. I like baseball best. Not that I don't like football or basketball but baseball has always been tops for me. I pull for USC in everything though and I get almost as pumped up for other sports as well as baseball.

It doesnt get on my nerves at all. Im just glad that I have a wife that loves the Gamecocks as much as I do.

I think USC played well and should be proud that they won....but I am definately not one of the sore losers...We could have played better but that's how life is...You win some ...You lose some...I still love my Cats!

But I'm not talking about you or USC fans in general.

I'm talking about the NATION and the SEC community in general. Want respect? You gotta win in football or basketball...it's just that simple.

We're talking about a sport which:
- Is never televised on a major network, and is only on ESPN come Omaha time
- Is never updated or reported on during the regular season on Sportscenter or Fox
- Has no pre-season mags covering it like Street and Smith's or Sporting News
- There is no "College Gameday" on Saturdays at college baseball venues
- Does not even approach the attendance figures nationwide for football or basketball

I could go on....

I'm not saying I'm not happy with our baseball accomplishments, but folks, college baseball is a minor revenue sport and always will be. It will not ever mask shortcomings in football and basketball in the eyes of the media. That's just the cold, hard facts. The support for it in the Columbia area is highly unusual....and you and I both know that, if we weren't winning, that wouldn't be the case.

I don't want our athletics using baseball as a crutch....I want them motivated to win in the major sports: football and men's hoops. Track and baseball are OK....but that's not enough from a national perspective.

Anyway....didn't mean to vent too much....This is just a pet peeve of mine. Do any of you other SEC fans agree with me on this? Or am I just shooting the breeze?
