Any thoughts on this one as tip-off approaches?
Bama broke a 7-game losing streak AT auburn last season with a 72-71 win at Auburn's home.
Obviously Bama has the advantage both on the court and on paper to win this one BIG tonight, but AU is one of those teams that never seems to go away for us. But with Auburn's horrible performance this year, I think a big win tonight....
My prediction: 82-55 Bama.

I know they will bring their A game. I hope they aren't hitting their 3s. I'll say 72-60 Bama.

WOW.... that was waaaay too close for comfort.
Final Score: 60-55 Bama
Auburn might not be that great this year (alright, they suck), but they are truly one of those teams that we cannot ever rule out. I don't know what it is, but we are almost plagued at their coliseum. We've only won 1 (last year) of the past 8 matchups at their coliseum. We rule them at our home though. :)

Behind UK I presume? :)
I agree with you... but luckily for us, UK is in Tuscaloosa this year. So we just MAY have the chance to pull the upset against them. :)

 The tide never gave up the lead. I think they play to their level. I noticied that Chuckie seemed to get double-teamed alot. but, he made the passes that counted. I will say this how disrespectful can Aubarn be to award a nonsense phantom trophy to the entire aubarn football team for being NC champs while they were playing the tide. There will be a payback sooner than later. The fans thought they were going to win so it made the victory a little sweeter. gosh i wish we had the " Ole Ball coach".

I think the only reason they did it at THIS game, is b/c they football team was already there anyhow. Remember that the AU-Bama basketball game is the one every year where the winning football team of that year's Iron Bowl come out at their home coliseum.
Keep in mind that their team did a great job this year, and it is kind of crap that they were denied a chance at the NC title. At least they aren't claiming for a "Co-title", they are just simply accepting the "People's" NC trophy that their supporters put together for them. Also remember that there have been similar situations in Bama's background with at least one of our NC titles, where we had to go after a co-title.

:) jordan you seem like a guy that looks objectively at things. Do you really believe they did not seize the moment and take advantage of this situation to promote more hostile feelings between the schools. You know i went to the game to see ala beat the crap out of aubarn- that should not be the reason to go to a B-ball game. Gosh i wish we had the " Ole Ball coach".

Nope, it was in Auburn this game. We've got them in Tuscaloosa on the first Wednesday of March.
And Sully... I do try to look objectively at things. :) And like I said before, the winning football team of the Iron Bowl is always presented the trophy at the half-time of the Bama/AU basketball game that is at their home court. So that's tradition for both teams... As for the "People's NC" trophy, I think they did it at this game for two reasons....
1) The football team and coach were already present to accept the Iron Bowl trophy
2) It means more to the state of Alabama if they accepted the "People's" trophy at a game against another Alabama-school. There are many people in the state (Bama fans, Auburn fans, Troy fans, UAB fans, etc) that were rooting for Auburn to represent our state in the NC game.
Regardless of what school you root for, you have to admit that Auburn had a great season. If the same had happened to Bama this year, we'd be having a completely different conversation right now. :) I personally don't have a problem with Tuberville/team accepting a "People's National Champs" trophy. They didn't personally come up with the idea for it, their fans/supporters did.... By accepting it, they aren't saying that they ARE the national champs, they're just saying that they could have been contenders for the NC title given the opportunity.
Also, it gives them something in their trophy case to display in honor of their outstanding season. A season like this is hard to come by at Auburn, and I think it's great that their fans/supporters had them a trophy made up to remember it by.

our sga president went over to beard eaves coliseum and sang war eagle too... the losing school in the iron bowl has to go to the other school's coliseum and sing their fight song.
and sully...wtf does the "ole ball coach" have to do with basketball, you make no sense.

I still don't think they could have beat USC in the NC game.

I don't either, but I do think they would have made it a better game to watch than Oklahoma did. But we'll never know for sure, as I personally think it will be a loooong time before AU has another season like this one.

see that what i mean the whole thing is a joke. Alabama doesn't even acknowlege the winning of a division title much less a mythical NC. Hey, look if they won the thing they earned it but they did not. Gosh i wish we had the " Ole ball Coach".
