Did you see the list of coaches he beat out for the award? They even had old Mike Price's name in the list. Man if he had won that award he sho nuf could have gotten drunk and had a couple of stripers to dance and party with. But ,I take my hat off to you Tommy, you deserved it. ;)

i really don't think tommy deserved it. he even admitted that he delegated more this year other than make decisions. it holds true cause he's known as the riverboat gambler, and it didn't kill auburn this year. personally mike price woulda been very poetic haha. this guy screws up at Bama, then gets his act straightened out, lost weight, and made a huge impact at UTEP.

Price Would Have Been A Good Choice As Well But Tubo Got The Pity Vote!

Wasn't Tubby the third choice behind some other guys when he got hired?
To me, that would call for a "nananananana"

I am glad to see that Tommy Tuberville is getting the recognition that he deserves even though his team didn't get the proper recognition this year. In response to nooneLT's response, part of being a great coach is hiring other great coaches to work with (quarterback coach, defensive coach, etc.). By hiring a great staff, that led the Tigers to 13-0 this year. A head coach cannot do it all on his own without delegation to other coaches. Also, another comment I have for nooneLT...every post that I have read that you wrote about Auburn has been negative. What's up with that?

How can you be an Auburn and SC fan? Just curious.

I was born in South Carolina and lived there until I was 12. My dad got his doctorate at USC and my parents are huge fans. We lived in Columbia and we all had season tickets...even went to the 1984 Gator bowl! Then we moved to Georgia...right on the state line of Alabama. I remained a huge Gamecock fan and still do. Then I went to Auburn and graduated from there in 1997. That is why I pull for both schools! It hasn't been too hard these past few years but now that the schedule has rotated, they will be playing each other in football...YIKES!! It hurts my heart to pull against either team....<sniff, sniff>

So who will you be pulling for? You have to decide sometime.....
I think Tuberville deserved it. Aren't we forgetting the turnaround this team made?
7-5 to 13-0?
That's one hell of an improvement.:)

She'll be pulling for the team with the best chance to have a great season; I'm sure she'd pull for the cocks if they had a chance to go undefeated.

Well...the only two (2) teams that ever I cared about since I was a kid was Nebraska and USC. I would pull for them both unless they played each other. That's when I would have a conflict, but I would always lean towards USC. :D

Boy, that last time they played in '87 was a great game wasn't it! Todd Ellis and Harold Green (now that was a running back!)

LOL, do you remember when, at the end of the 84 Carolina/Clemson game, Mike Hold walked over to the "Fridge" Perry and handed him the gameball after we won something like 21-20 in the final seconds? I had a poster that had that on it and said "Hold that Tiger"
In response to troxel, rabid is right. I will be pulling for whoever has the best chance at an SEC title or going undefeated or whatever. If they are pretty much even, I will pull for my Auburn Tigers, although it will be very hard. My mom feels torn now as well b/c she has really developed into an Auburn fan since I went to school there. She pulls for her Gamecocks though, although I am not sure who she would have pulled for if SC played AU late in the season this past year with AU having such a chance at going undefeated. I will have to ask her that question...lol. Usually on gamedays if they play at different times, I will change clothes b/t games so that I wear my AU stuff during the AU game and the SC stuff during the SC game. I even have a Cocky and an Aubie that sit on top of my TV. We are thinking of going to the AU/SC game this year since it is in Auburn (only 25 minutes from me). Anyone want to come and tailgate? I wish I had a shirt like Bobby Bowden's wife has that says "Clem state" for when Tommy and Bobby's teams play each other. I guess mine would say....SouthBurn? or Aubolina? lol.
I do have another thing to say...Even though Auburn's player's stadium entrance is awesome with the smoke and playing "Eye of the Tiger," NOTHING compares to SC's entrance to "2001"....The feeling that you get is something undescribable.

i used to have no problems with auburn, heck i was cheering for them in high school cause my sister went there. i grew up, saw the light :p and am a huge Bama fan now. i never liked Tubby, and most auburn fans would agree with me...prior to this season.
one of the main reasons i have with auburn right now is the bandwagon fans. plus the fact i went to the iron bowl this year and saw how classless AU fans are. they have a great season, and all of sudden they're a dynasty? how they'll "dominate" SEC for years to come? i guess it's the same way with LSU last season. 1 great season and they start talking smack how they're gonna rule the CF world every year after. another reason is that i feel sad for them. self-proclaiming the NC is truly pathethic. how low can tubby go?

I have always liked Tuberville. I was extremely pissed at the administration for the crap they pulled last year with the trip to Louisville to see Petrino. I am an Auburn fan through thick and thin. I am not a fair weathered fan...I mean, c'mon, I have been a South Carolina fan since the day I was born...that speaks volumes! I am also not a smack talker. Not all Auburn fans are like the ones you described. Every team has its bad fans. Please do not stereotype me in with those people. I also feel this year was our year and it will be awhile before we are ever undefeated again. As for self-proclaiming a national title...if Alabama had the same type of of season Auburn did and didn't get in the championship game, how would you feel? What would your coach do? It really stinks. We didn't claim a National Title...we claimed a Championship Season which is EXACTLY what we had.

How ironic is it that an Auburn coach wins the Bear Bryant award? The Bear must be turning over in his grave.
However, Tuberville did a good job this year. His team played arguably the best football of any team in the country. Had it not been for preseason polls and human voters, they very well could have been playing for the national championship. No one expected for Tuberville to get such a performance out of the team as he did this year.
It's funny how a few folks at Auburn never liked him and wanted him gone, especially after the 2003 season. Perhaps if no one ever leaked the Petrino controversy, none of this ever happens at Auburn.
I'm not sure if the Tigers are as talented as the Trojans, so I'm not calling Auburn national champions. However, they did win the SEC, so 2004 can indeed be called a "championship" season. No problem with that.

Coach Tuberville now owns the trophy AND the stadium named after Coach Bryant. That has to hurt!
Even though some Bama fans want to act as if all, or most, Auburn fans wanted CTT gone after last season, that is just not the case. There were some very vocal few who did, but apparent by the thousands and thousands of emails that he and the admin received, I believe the majority did not want him gone. Many people forget that internet posters are not a large % of all of the fans, nor are they very representative of what a fanbase believes.
The Bama nation better hope my last statement is true because there are some very kooky Bama posters on many of these boards. :)
I also have seen no Auburn fans predicting a dynasty at AU. What is funny though is that I have seen several Auburn fans in the past couple of years predicting a dynasty at both UGA, under Richt, and LSU, under Saban. Since, imo, a dynasty can only be built by winning championships over and over, looks like those predictions were wrong too. Not sure we'll see a true dynasty in the SEC ever again, but who knows?
I can say w/o a single doubt that no one is talking about dynasties and Shula.

good points, Buck! I agree that not many fans wanted Tuberville gone at the end of last season. I think about 95% of the fans were ill with the administration for flying secretly to Louisville...especially days before the Alabama game. When your bitter in-state rivalry football game is coming up, you have to stay united and not appear divided as Auburn looked in Nov. 2003. Tuberville has not lost a game since then. I know I said this earlier, but it is worth saying again...Tuberville is an awesome coach and a great man with high morals. I am happy he is coaching my team!

We OWN Tuberville-Denny stadium already so we may as well own their coaching award too. Thats two AU coaches who have won it now!

They are all paper champions, as far back as you want to go! Nobody beat Auburn, so why should they concede that they are not the best team in the country? Stop talking smack, the last time I checked I didn't give you permission to speak. :D War Eagle! I seriously doubt you'll get any privileges this year either since you are coming to our house! :D

For starters, they went undefeated and they deserve a share of the MNC just as much as Southern Cal.
Are you sure that Alabama hasn't done the same thing? ;)
