You would think The Golden Gophers would have played Vanderbilt's fight song instead of UT's since they were playing in Nashville after they won The Music City Bowl. Maybe Rocky Top was just a song they enjoyed playing. After they had won the game respectfully on the field I guess the band wanted to throw a little salt. That wasn't to cool of them and it won't be forgotten but theys one thing they should know. Bama's band would not have played Michigan's are Ohio State's fight song had we won the game. ;)

HA.. you know what would of solved this entire controversey, before it even started? If BAMA would have actually beaten the second rate big ten team they were playing!
From what I understand, members of the UM band had been asked to play for UT's women's volleyball team or something like that up there in Minn at a tourny a couple of weeks before the bowl, they learned Rocky Top for that reason. Once they got a hold of it, they simply liked the tune, and decided to use it in the bowl bc it was in TN. Saw a post somewhere (dont ask for a link, just lurking around and happened to catch somewhere, dont know where its at really) supposedly from a UM band member, who said no malicious intent was behind the playing of the song, much to my dismay. :D
