Dawg fans are arguing on whether Cox is a 4 star or 3 star player! He is out of Independence H.S. and was recently downgraded to a three star. Will he be a top-notched SEC quarterback or not?

The only flaw with Cox as a prospect is the fact that he is not very tall. Other than that, I hear he is quite smart, can scramble when he needs to and has a stronger arm than David Greene had. I think he will be ok, but he'll have to wait his turn. It'll be 3 years before he plays, he'll get one year and that's it. I think he would have been better off staying with Duke.

Not very tall? He may not be a giant but 6'1" isn't "small"
He is listed as a three star by Rivals.com and scout.com gives him 4 stars.
He has a strong arm, but his strength is his accuracy.
As a junior in HS he threw for 3,983 yards and 43 touchdowns.
Looks like a guy with some serious potential.

Yea, read a few posts on the DV about Cox and one thread on the Scout board, but such stuff as this is indicative of a total lack of salient topics to interest the participants imvho....
He's another touted QB, yadda, yadda, who did what he did in grade school, and unless he possess otherworldly abilities as yet to be determined, will redshirt. With Shockley holding the reins going into Spring, only similar as yet to be determined circumstances which would have transformed JTIII or Barnes into phenoms of unerring perfection would open a crack large enough for Cox to even warrant cursory attention this August.
My #1 question going into this Spring is whether or not JTIII and/or Barnes are athletic enough to transition into the new Offensive scheme. As word leaks out of Athens about it, one wonders how news of it will affect the planning of DC's on the schedule for they will have to rely on game tapes once the season begins. Ah for a return to smashmouth offensive football!

That's his name! I was trying to remember it a day or two ago. I have seen him play and I think he's actually better than Chris Leak. His strength is questionable, but his accuracy and touch is something that some players would kill for. :D

That's not saying much.

That's a generous height they gave Joe Cox, he's more like 5'11. I know it's only one inch, but he can't pass if he can't see over his lineman downfield. Like I said, he'll be ok, but he'll have to wait his turn at UGA.

I think Joe will be fine. I have heard stuff about him being a product of the system and other stuff like that. He was not very impressive in the NC-SC Shrine Bowl. I have no conserns about him. He went to UGA football camp and the coaches liked him so much that he left with a scholarship offer. That tells me all I need to know.
Kurst, I think it is a bit early to be predicting our starting quarterback 3 or 4 years before that season happens. You never know how a kid will turn out. There is also always a chance of injury. You may be right but, it is still WAY too early.
