Word on the street is that Locksley felt this was his best chance to advance....Meyer's staff seems to be in it for the long haul. With the loyalty that follows Meyer, combined with his specific system and offensive "genius"--it seems impossible to imagine that Locksley would have gotten a chance to be OC. We're sad to see Lox go, but you have to do what you need to do. He's only been on staff since 2003 or so....so, it's not like we're losing a super veteran with huge ties to the program. I think he would have been better off staying at Florida for a few years and then making a better move...at least to a better program. Maybe it's possible that Zook can turn IL around, but most of us think it's a dead-end job. If he thinks he's going to go into FL each year and take 4- and 5-star athletes from the SEC contingent, he's even dumber than we thought. You can't blame Lox for leaving, but by most accounts, IL will not be among the elite...even in their own backyard (i.e., the Big 10). Did any of you see Zook's press conference on ESPN? He couldn't even pronounce the name of the university: "ill-i-NOY" suddenly became "il-i-NOISE." He was an awesome recruiter, but we in GatorNation are glad to see him go. I personally think Zook overestimates his own "street cred." I give him no more than 5 years at UI.
As far as recruiting, Lox had his hand in a good number of recruits, but what I'm hearing is that the transition to the Meyer era is really solidified at this point. This would have hurt our board a lot more if it had happened two or three weeks ago. During the transition period, ML was holding down the fort without a coach....he was THE face of Florida football for these recruits. By now, though, Lox has basically handed our board off to Meyer, Doc, BillyG, and Mullen. These kids have gotten a chance to talk with Meyer and become familiar with the new staff....they all know for whom they'll be playing football next year. So, personal relationships will be missed, sure, but Meyer is pulling the wagon at this point, making a ton of face-to-face visits, selling his face as the future of Florida. As a result, kids aren't dropping UF simply b/c Lox is moving. Sorry, guys...lol.
I am told that Heater is currently acting in Lox's capacity as recruiting coordinator.

While it hurts to lose a recruiter before signing day, this is not a bad loss IMO. Meyer, much to my chagrin, will have plenty of kids that want to go to the Gators and play under him. Do I think other teams will try to spin this into their favor? Of course they will. It is recruiting and all coaches try to paint the picture that their school and program offers the best chance for said recruit.
