That's good news, but let's not act like this is BIG. Remember he was "King of the Dip ..." this year and I still have nightmares of Auburn's RB's running right over him again and again!!

Just meant that he was the best DB on a BAD unit!! Also, he really needs to improve against the run (which he did make progress through the year)!

Congrats to you guys and to him. That's probably the best decision he's made in a while, and I love it when these guys come back.

Well the king of the dip.... led the Vols in tackles. He started at Safety this year when he had played cornerback in the past. Does Ronnie Brown running over him sting in the back of my head? Yes, it does. Do not worry, he is going back to cornerback :D

One more thing, Ronnie Brown is a bad man

Jason Allen was All-SEC and third team All-American. He led UT and i think the SEC in tackles. All of this while playing safety instead of his natural position, CB. I don't see how you can come on to a message board and diss some man who gave up millions to play for UT for one more year. That just doesn't add up to me. Be thankful for Jason Allen staying, don't diss him for the few bad plays he made. His good plays far out weighed the bad ones.

I just can't wait till a cock or tide fan comes on here claiming our street agent got to Jason Allen. It should be coming any minute now.

Honestly, it was the right decision. From someone that knows Jerry Richardson (Carolina Panthers Owner) through a family friend I can go ahead and say that some NFL owners frown on players leaving college early. That fourth (4) year is very crucial in your development as a player and just from the experience, it will pay dividends.

Not too mention, that last year can add millions to your first NFL contract. I actually applaud him for resisting the temptation to give in to these blood-sucking agents. :)

In the vast majority of cases Del, you are exactly right.. However, the players see two big factors that motivate them to leave early. One, if the player comes from a very poor background, the million dollar payday is just too much to wait another year for. I think I read somewhere where there is a player from UGA leaving early, because he has to care for numerous brothers and sisters without parents (i think this is the case, just caught a glimpse of the article), thats a player where that extra year of not getting the NFL paychecks is simply the bad option period. Secondly, if you were in the shoes of a college junior, many of the agents, family, etc. push the fact that if they go back to college, and get hurt, they are left with nothing (except for a college degree). So technically speaking, those blood sucking agents (pretty accurate depiction I might add, lets include streetagents as rank amateur bloodsuckers!!) can have a point when they argue that the fourth year could very well add to a players NFL prospects, but also could take them away as well. Also, if a JR is coming off of a very good year, why risk having a downturn the next year and losing draft status. For example, a RB rushes for 1400 yards, but had 5 beasts on the OL blocking for him who all happen to be SR's. I would certainly have to contemplate leaving in that scenario.
In JA's case, he made the right decision. There are some great players coming back in the front 7 on our D, QB's are not gonna have a lot of time to throw against UT next year, well have some talent elsewhere in the secondary, so teams cannot wholely avoid Allen, so he has the foundation in place for a standout senior year. If he performs as I predict, he will certainly go in the first round.
