Every one be sure to watch the Army all-star game this weekend.....I know I will be watching very closely. UT has several starters on the east team and I can't wait to see how they do. According to CFN.com, Morley and Crompton are NASTY and P. Turner, who is considering the vols, has been hanging with Crompton and they apparently make a very deadly duo.....

A LOT of big time recruits are announcing this weekend during the game. Brent Hubbs, a UT recruiting analysts is hinting that this weekend will be very enjoyable for UT fans.
I can't wait!

Dude, if we get Phillips and Turner.......WHOA. CAN ANYONE SAY NATIONAL TITLE?
They both have narrowed down to UT and Miami, and from the news from San Antonio, the guys that have already committed to UT are pushing hard for them to come to UT. OH MAN!

Turner has eliminated Miami. It is UT/USC and he has said that he wants his family to be able to watch him play.

Don't forget about Demitrice Morley too. Morley and Phillips have been dominating practices this week and they could BOTH be playing for UT next year.

Morley is already commited and Phillips says 50/50, but I think it might be more of a long shot...

I think Phillips is leaning more towards us. He has been talking about how he would love to play along side Morley. Hopefully we will see Powe, Phillips, Turner, and T. Baker all sporting orange hats after the game!

Right now in the SEC, UT and UG have the most to be excited about. UT is 5th and UG is 6th. There are several big time players expected to commit to one or the other on Saturday. As of right now, us and Georgia and pretty much dominating the SEC in recruits.
Florida is way back at 27th, and Spurrier only has 2 four star recruits at 32nd. The rest are threes. I told you that SOS would not be able to recruit at SC like he did at UF. Not gonna happen.
Closer to the top is Bama, AU, and LSU at spots 12, 13, and 24, respectively.

Rankings should change a good bit over the next week or so.... but still in that same likely order for the SEC.

Can't recruit??????
Steve Spurrier didn't start recruiting until after Thanksgiving. He was hired the day before Thanksgiving. How many days is that???? Between when he was hired and NSD, that's 71 days. Who can recruit a 5-Star prime team in 71 days?
Let me be the first to tell you that "Stars" don't mean squat. Danny Wuerffel was a 2-Star 4th string QB at Florida. Through the years, we saw what he did to the SEC.
For arguments sake though, let's say your right. In less than 71 days, Spurrier has gathered 54 visits from recruits. Out of those 54, 42 of them are nationally ranked (Rivals). Out of the 15 commits we have, 10 are nationally ranked by Rivals.

I wanna hear how you think that Spurrier can't recruit for USC? Where is your basis for that thought? :)
We have 5-Star WR Julius McClellan coming in for a visit this weekend and #15 4-Star WR Slick Shelley coming in too. Boy! Those sure look like nice recruits according to Rivals. :)

Visits dont mean jack squat. And if you think stars dont mean anything, you need to do some more research. Sure, every now and then someone slips under the radar and becomes a star, but if you look at past years, you will see that you thesis is wayyyy wrong.
So SOS has had 71 days? That is about in sync with every one else. No one starts recruiting heavily until bowl season, anyways. They may watch guys play, and let them know they are intrested, but visits are limited to a time frame. Like I said before, SOS was a great recruiter in Florida because of all the talent there. South Carolina, on the other hand, well, you know......

http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=4&pid=88&yr=2003.......look at the top 100 from 2003. There are some names there you may recognize.....Chris Leak, , Kyle Wright, Jamarcus Russell, Andre Caldwell, REggie Bush, Turk McBride.......and those are the ones that pop out at you. The guys that rate the players know what they are talking about, and it not based on some "throw a dart" method. UT had two four star recruits that put it to SC last year. You may remember them. Eric Ainge and Brent Schaeffer.

No they don't. You never played athletics have you? Were you ever recruited? Recruiting begins very early. It's a year-a-round thing. When I played ball, I got my first recruiting call back when I was a Soph. by a few schools. Since you mentioned it, Chis Leak's recruitment started when he was in middle school. Yes! Middle school.
You still never answered my question about USC's commits? Out of 15 commits, 10 are nationally ranked by Rivals. So?

yeah. I never played sports. Just like you were recruited as a Soph. OK. Sure. Anyways.....
No one ever said recruiting doesn't start early. Not sure where you got that. Any coach can make a phone call and watch some highlight reels. That means nothing. But, the nitty gritty doesn't start unitl later. That's why players will opt between several schools before narrowing it down. That is when recruiting talent comes into play. Taking a player who wants to go to Miami, for examply, and then convincing him to come to your school instead is what matters.Your little link is anything but impressive.......of the recruits listed, only two that are four stars. The rest are three. Take a look at UTs list. That will show you what recruiting is all about.......

Stars don't mean anything at all. Our 4 best players this past year, Pollack, Thurman, Greene, and Davis. All of them were 3 star recruits. There is no way to tell how a kid will take the transition from high school to college.

Thank you Silver! :) Another voice of reason!
USC WR Troy Williamson was only a 3-Star recruit too out of Silver Bluff HS.

Do you agree with my reasoning on recruiting too?
