and if you guys didn't know, it's a joke making fun of fanspoll.com, where they ended the official end time 1 day early cause USC won on the last day it was up. another funny fact, if you go to fanspoll.com and see the hit counter, it's at 70k, yet over 1.5 million votes were cast!!!

That's pretty funny!!! I thought the fanspoll.com idea sounded pretty cool until I realized it was an Auburn fans' idea...there was no bias, I'm sure!!!

C'mon, like there is no bias in the coaches poll either. There is some major BS going on due to the fact coaches don't have to identify who they vote for. That whole Orange Bowl matchup was the medias dream. There was no way Auburn was ever going to get in that game b/c both the coaches and the writers are too prideful to adjust their preseason ranking. That is the whole point behind this fanspoll.com. To show the everyone how it feels to be cheated out of something and have absolutely zero control over it. Of course it is not real, nor do they believe it to be, but look at how much controversy it has stirred up. War Damn Eagle!

as much as i wanna believe you...i know wayyyyyyyy too many auburn fans who claim this national championship based on this website.
auburn had a GREAT season, but instead of people looking back and looking back at the season, people will always talk about the way auburn self-proclaimed themselves national champs, it's sad really.

Well Alabama has done the same thing a few times. Some of Bama's titles could be questioned because of the entity awarding them.

People are gonna look back and remember how Auburn was cheated out of having a chance to play for the NC

True....Very true.
First time in history going 13-0 and NOT playing for the MNC! :)

You are being contacted as a chairman of the BCS committee. I would simply like to voice an opinion about the current BCS formula and be heard; hopefully you will listen.
I completely understand the reasoning and purpose of the BCS and it is too in depth to even dispute in an e-mail so I’ll just leave that issue alone. However, since the creation of the BCS there have been constant question marks concerning the BCS itself and the formula used to determine the top two teams at the completion of the regular season.
1. Are you aware that the Sagarin computer ranking is permitted as part of the BCS computer rankings which allowed William & Mary and Harvard to be ranked higher than Alabama and Arkansas? This is completely ridiculous and supports the argument that the BCS is not worthy of its so called fairness and objectiveness. That is a joke.
2. If coaches are permitted to vote which ultimately count as 1/3 of the BCS equation, they should be required to make their votes public. That is the only way to keep the integrity of the system if the BCS is to determine a fair national champion.
3. Additionally, preseason polls should not be given the merit that they currently possess. How can anyone determine how good or bad a team is before they ever even step foot on a football field? I know they are so called “experts” but it is all opinionated and that is exactly the way it should be viewed and treated. Polls that have any merit to the BCS formula should not be calculated as part of the equation until the third or fourth week of the season as a minimum. Only then, can a more accurate determination be made based on performance, not just a mere prediction.
I am not a complete BCS basher. I truly believe the BCS was a solution to the problem at the time of its creation. Since then, issues have evolved that desperately need addressing, some of which I have previously mentioned. The BCS is rapidly losing the respect of the most critical audience, the fans. The BCS obviously needs an overhaul regarding it procedures and formulas throughout, and ignoring these points will ultimately be detrimental to the existence of this system.
The only other way to correct the deficiencies of the BCS is to formulate some type of playoff (yes I said playoff) based on the BCS standings. Possibly, a four team playoff which will determine the national champion on the field rather than by hidden votes that are contractually agreed upon by the coaches.

that's not true. we claim 12 but the if you go to the ncaa website, it credits us for 17. we also got screwed in '66 and '77 if i'm not mistaken.

The NCAA does not recognize NC's. That's why we have these BCS Bowls while Div. II & III have playoffs.

ya what i meant was that somewhere on the ncaa website there shows who was awarded national championships by who (AP, Coaches...) alabama has 17 years where at least 1 organization recognized them to be NC.
trying to find the site now so you can look for yourself

All I'm saying is that anyone's MNC's can be questioned/challenged because there is no definite sole source that awards MNC's. It's all based on opinion. Div. II & III champions are NEVER questioned because they backed it up on the field with a playoff.
For me personally, I'm for the BCS+1. :)

auburn has 4, and i think 2 of them while they were on probation, so...
Since we are on the subject, USC should get a share of the 1907 title. They went undefeated. :)

I am counting the one I'm sure we'll get from some source this year since that site is outdated.

They did close the voting a day early. I teach with a girl who knows the guy who started this website. A HACKER broke into the website and cast tons of votes for USC. Auburn had been leading by a huge margin until the HACKER broke in. That is why there is a dispute in the votes. They had to go back to the time before the hacker broke in, so Auburn won it, fair and square. This was not a biased poll. It was open to anyone who had access to the internet to vote.

I know there is hatred between Bama and Auburn fans but I feel for Auburn. How would you feel if you went undefeated in the SEC and were denied a fair shot at a NC? I would love to see USC and Auburn play just like I wanted USC and LSU to play last year. It's too bad our BS of a system won't allow us to do that. I vote for a plus one game. Take the top 4 BCS and let #1 play #4 and #2 play #3 in two of the four BCS games. Then let the winners duke it out to determine a real champion.

Go back to my earlier post on this thread. It explains why there were more votes than hits.....because a USC hacker or some Auburn hater voted more than once illegally by hacking into the website. I am not sure why Alabama fans (at least several on this site) seem so sore at this whole thing....I do have a lot more respect now for other teams' fans such as Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina for saying how much Auburn got screwed this year. It makes me feel good that other folks care and are recognizing that this BCS formula is a load of crap.

Yeah, I'll have to agree with you on that point. I think it might be jealousy or something. 'Bama can't beat us so they assume that attempting to discredit Auburn by continuously accusing them of some fraudulent activity about a mediocre website must ruffle our feathers. Just let it go. Auburn got screwed out of at least playing for the NC, but they really don't give a crap about that barely existent poll, win or lose. NOBODY can discredit the accomplishment of them this year. No, not even 'Bama! See you at Jordan Hare. :D hee! :D hee! :D hee! :D hee! :D hee! :D hee! :D hee!

One other point I have to make...whoever made up this website seems confused that Utah won the People's National Championship. I am trying to figure out if they are poking fun at Auburn or Utah...Whoever made this site seems very confused to me...Anyone else get that impression?

Utah is a good team, but who did they play in the Fiesta Bowl? A ragged out, bunch of losers known as Pitt.
I've said it once and I'll say it again, they (Pitt) didn't belong there!

From the posting though, I thought that website would be poking fun at Auburn and instead pokes fun at Utah and uses Tommy Tuberville's name in a quote. I am confused as to which team the site owner was making fun of....I think the site owner is quite confused as well
