Thought South Carolina Looked Pretty Good In 79-75 Loss To Uk The Other Night..

They Should Be Really Tough Come Tournament Time.

I Know It Will Be A Tough Game When We Play In Columbia.

South Carolina is great, and you're right, they'll be a handful when March rolls around. I really like their team this year.

I have said so all along, having seen them play several times. To reiterate, with a supporting cast like Powell, Gonner (whose really starting to come along) and Kelly, a good interior player would have a field day, but alas.

Odum Has Many Times He Likes The Makeup Of This Team. I Am Beginning To See What He Is Talking About. We Still Need A Big Strong Post Player. And Gonner Needs To Find His Stroke For The Three's. It's Coming Together!!

Yep. You are exactly right.

The one ingredient this team misses most is a big presence under the boards.

Odom's coaching is impressive, but he has not gotten it done on the recruiting front. As with past coaches at USC, recruiting continues to be a problem area. Why schools like UGA and Florida and Mississippi State and Alabama can land top basketball recruits and we can't remains a mystery.

Well, we have no choice but to wait and see how this next Odom class pans out. But already, Ranard Robinson has been disqualified. And from what I read, it didn't sound like he was "all that" anyway. Makes you wonder what kind of player Odom is trying to attract to the program.......

It's frustrating. I really think if Odom had better material to work with, the program could really take off.

Another thing we need is an outside shooter

You would think that with our facilities...ie the Colonial Center, and all, recruiting wouldn't be so difficult for him. Lately we've been getting better, it's not like we totally suck every season.....I can't understand the recruiting situation for Odom

I don't know. Hard to figure.....

Really, Bill Foster, George Felton, Steve Newton and Eddie Fogler weren't any better on the recruiting front. The closest thing to a legitimate NBA player we've had in all those post-McGuire years was Jamie Watson...and he had only a 2 or 3 year run in the NBA on the bench.

Since McGuire left, USC basketball has been almost completely devoid of big time talent. During the Foster/Metro years, we really got behind in the recruiting arena and have never caught up. Foster missed out on guys like Xavier McDaniel and Tyrone Corbin....that started an ugly trend where the best players in SC go elsewhere.

JBryant,

You're right in that we could use an outside shooter. We need a guy like Sparks or Reddick. But I would take a big man first, because I think an inside presence alone would improve our outside shooting and open up things on the perimeter.

Wow, best time of the year, IMO...talking b-ball :)

Yes, a rebounding space-eater is what we need in the paint... anyone know any big men on campus..UGA used walk-ons...why can't we???
