BIG step down from Saban.

Heard the press conference today. The AD kept saying how much he was like Saban, competitive like Saban, blah, blah, blah. So far, I'm not impressed. He has big shoes to fill. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Personally, I would have liked Petrino from Louisville or Butch Davis but I didn't get the 'vette for Christmas I wanted either.

As An Sec Fan-----not Impressed! He Will Have To Prove He Belongs.

I read his press conference and the comments from others who have worked with him in the Dallas Cowboys organization, etc., and I am impressed. He is a players coach, it seems, with good discipline and a good football mind. If he can continue the good recruiting and with the talent that is already at LSU, I think he will be successful. Whether he will be as successful as Saban remains to be seen. Too, I hope he gets rid of Jimbo Fisher. Although Jimbo gets accolades from many quarters, I think he makes some bimbo calls and doesn't do a good enough job with the talent he has, such as the quarterbacks this year. Anyway, here is one Tiger that is optimistic and thinks Les Myles will continue the Bayou Bengal's winning ways.

Miles is going to be in for a very tough year. 18 returning starters and a boatload of talent mean that anything less then a 9-2 record is a total failure in the eyes of many LSU fans. The schedule is setup for a very good season though....both UF/Auburn at home and UGA rotates out with Vandy rotating in.

I love how much of a player's coach he is and after Nick Saban, who was far from it, I think its a perfect fit for them.

I wish LSU the best.

The first year depends much on how quick the players can catch on to his system. I don't consider Miles a step down for LSU. He did well in a tough conference and holds as much or more respect than Saben did when Saben left Mich St. The difference is Miles must do what Zook did and that is follow someone the school, fans, students and players had total faith in.

Thanks, Quack. Nice post. I am very positive about Les Miles. Until proven differently, I think he will be great for the Tigers from Baton Rouge. He has unrestricted recruiting within the State of Louisiana, and he will also do well recruiting in Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. If he can get one of his quarterbacks on track to live up to their potential, the Bayou Bengals could have a devastating offense. Hopefully, he will retain Will Muschamp as defensive coordinator, thus keeping the defense very strong.

Yep, I'm optimistic. 2005 could be a stellar year in Tigertown!

Muschamp is heading to the Dolphins and according to an LSU insider on one of the recruiting boards, Campo and Gary Crowden will be hired.

Miles will have to deal with a QB situation that is much tougher then people imagine. I have heard that Russell (who has some very good games) was never a big film-study type player and such....something he will HAVE TO DO this off-season if he wants to step in full time as an SEC QB
