He did all right.
I expect to see a vast improvement next year... both in his and the team's play.

I thought he played very good. He's really the reason they won that game last night and I think that gave him some major confidence going into next season.

Eli played very well last night considering what he has around him. He will get better and better, you know people on giants.com msg board are still complaining about Eli. Don't think you can please them folks up there.

They should be cheering him and not jeering him. They haven't had a decent QB since Hostetler and that's not saying much. I was impressed at how Eli just kinda grew up overnight.

Maybe since Phil Simms, You ought to check out giants.com board and see, it is amazing, been some even saying they ought to trade Eli.

I can't cheer for Eli. I think its very fitting that the Chargers have had a great year after his "I don't want to play for them" whine. He's a great player but needs to learn a little humility.

Eli Had a choice, just as you and I do. The Chargers front office with Marty in charge Stinks. The Mannings Knew that. Would you want to get caught up in a job, with a long contract, and work for a fool. I wouldn't. If you remember John Elway did the exact same thing. I don't blame Eli one bit for making a choice that was in his best interest.

Pro football is a different beast, It's going to take him time, but the wait will be worth it.

Yeah and those people are crazy. Someone told me to look on the NYG's message boards so I did.
The boy is a rookie and they are already wanting to trade him. What's wrong with this picture?
Manning may be a rookie and a lot of his mistakes were rookie errors, but you can't blame him entirely. Like every great QB, he needs a supporting cast and an offensive line that can actually protect him.

Exactly, and Sunday showed exactly that.. When his O-Line gave him time he hate the Cowboys secondary alive!! Damn Yankee's dont know when something good slaps em in the face.. Eli will show them next year, or show them what he promised to do to the Chargers, say f*** you.

Go Chargers!! Division winners. I'm sorry, but he reminded me of a spoiled child who got his daddy to help him out. Oh wait, that is what happened. Peyton went to a team that was no good and look at Indy now. Big brother has some class. Little brother needs to grow up.

What you are talking is his personality, not his playing ability. Granted, I thought he acted rather childish, but that has nothing to do with his ability in my eyes.

No, I can't argue that. He's a great athlete, but as a fan, character is important to me. That's why I was so embarassed by our fiasco at the Clemson game.

Division winners this year... but let's see where the Chargers are a few years down the road and where Eli is.
Something tells me the Chargers will be on the losing end of that deal in the end.

I wouldn't give a hoot in hell for any father who did not look after the interests of his son. Fathers do that every single day in the business world... and the NFL, whether you like it or not, is a business to the players.
And, if I may put a homeristic spin on it... the Chargers turned Deuce McAllister down... they didn't deserve Eli Manning. Maybe if they had taken Deuce, Eli may have gone there... ya reckon? ;)

You may be right, but Deuce can't hold a candle to LaDamian Tomlinson. Tomlinson is one of the best TB's in the NFL. Part of Deuce's problem is playing for a sorry team like New Orleans. If he played for someone else, I would agree with ya about Deuce. Playing for NO actually hurts more than helps.
As for the Chargers dropping off? I don't see it happening. The Chargers are a very young team and I think they are beginning to "Gel" with each other.
Phillip Rivers threw his first TD pass too.

Shott has a way of coaching a team into a very good respectable also ran team

Funny you should say that.
Before the draft, I was thinking the Cowboys would trade-up and get Eli. I thought he would be a very good building block for their future.
I was actually surprised when the Giants got him. And, already being a Jets fan, it now forces me to support both New York teams.

actually the giants were about the only team that could trade for him. i forget all the details of why but nobody else had enough monopoly property to trade for park place.

Ole Miss has added some very solid Assis. to their staff....several that know the New Orleans area quite well, HS Talent wise, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them sneak into the state the next couple of years

Lane is from Louisiana. Once again my "old timers" is catching up with me cause i can't remember the circumstances that brought him to Ole Miss. LSU does get, for the most part, what they want but now and then Ole Miss has sneaked in.

I think that the Chargers knew what they were doing and will come out on top in the end. Peyton Manning had just as much to do with the hype around Eli last year as Eli's own ability. Peyton had an awesome year last year and everyone was talking about another Manning going into the NFL and becoming a great qb. Eli will never be as good as Peyton.

If I remember correctly, Peyton was praising his brother shortly before the draft. :)
