Former USC Assistants Notre Dame Bound
According to two reliable sources in the college coaching fraternity, former USC defensive coordinator Rick Minter and former Gamecock defensive line coach Jappy Oliver have bee hired by Charley Weiss as assistants on his defensive staff at Notre Dame. One source said Minter might be the defensive coordinator with the Irish as well as linebacker coach. Oliver will coach the defensive line. Their hirings leave Dave Roberts and Paul Lounsberry as the only assistants from Lou Holtz's staff without football coaching jobs. Skip Holtz is head coach at East Carolina. Steve Shankweiler is offensive line coach at East Carolina. Rick Stockstill is tight ends coach at USC. David Reaves is assistant quarterbacks coach at USC. Ron Cooper is a defensive assistant at USC.
