Could the 2005 season be the perfect season for USC? For those of yall that are superstitious, according to the Chinese zodiac, 2005 is the year of the rooster. (Gamecock)

It'll take more than Chineese Roosters for my Gamecocks to "win it all" in 2005. But I do feel we're on the right track with SOS. We need to back off and give him room to work his magic. He's extremely competitive and wants to prove the DC gig was not his coaching......and that UF made the biggest mistake of the decade. We'll be there!

Just how stupid are those people in Florida?
Fire a good coach and then ask Spurrier to interview?
I hope they get sand kicked in their face all year!
What a bunch of Maroons!!!!!!!

Hi everyone this is my very fist post on this site!!! YAY...well back to the topic, it would be great for it to be "the year" but i don't think we will go all the way next year, maybe SEC:E champions is my highest expectations for next year. Can't wait to see some pass plays for once, other than QB sneaks, ;p.

You know, it's a funny thing. Pass plays: it seems from the first time I became a Carolina fan, we never (except occasionally) had much, but we always had a great quarterback, and you knew when you came to play SC, you were going to have to defend the pass, because that's what we did.

There was Tommy Suggs, Jeff Grantz, Ron Bass, Allen Mitchell, Mike Hold, Todd Ellis, Bobby Fuller, Steve Tanneyhill, Phil Petty, etc. And since, we've had a dry spell, but you know..............I think that's about to change!!!

I will agree with you on all of those EXCEPT Bobby Fuller. He was total GARBAGE. That boy threw more dying ducks than TD's. Everytime I saw him play, I questioned what team he played for because it seemed like he was consistant in throwing INTS.

I'm not being pessimistic but, 2005 will not be the year for SC. They simply don't have enough talent to win the national title, much less the SEC, yet. Give Spurrier some time. I think everyone's getting a little over-excited here. SS is a great coach but he's not a miracle worker. We Gamecock fans need to give him some time. 7-4 at best next season. Go Gamecocks!!!

I agree. I can't wait to see our QB do what most QB's do at other DI schools across the nation...complete a forward pass. I believe Lou thought guys were still wearing leather helmets and the forward pass had not been invented yet.

i think we have enough talent to compete in the SEC east again like we did when we won back to back outback bowls. syvelle and mitchell can toss the ball allright when givin the chance and if we get a good QB recruit well do allright.

Personally, I think Syvelle Newton will start this year and Spurrier is going to work Beecher in a little at a time. :)

I think Mitchell will finally get a chance to show what he can do. He was one of the best qb's in the nation coming out of high school. Given the opportunity to work under Spurrier I would say that he will do very well in the future.

Mitchell is too scrawny though. What's his weight? 195? He will get killed in the SEC with that kinda weight.

That may be but let's hope that with all Spurrier brings, is bringing and will bring to this program that Mitchell has or will see the light and get away from 5-points and into the weight room where he should be most of the time anyway. Or looking at film. Or practicing throws/routes. Or SOMETHING!

It just goes to show you...talent alone is not nearly enough. You have to do the work, too.
