View Full Version : Saban To The NFL?
http://www.sectalk.com/teams/LSU.gifSaban considering Cleveland Browns job.
Once again, we are in the rumor mill and the latest is concerning LSU head football coach Nick Saban. According to unpublished reports, Saban is having a team meeting as I type considering this. Now all and all this may be just a rumor, but it may not be. These reports have not been confirmed, but there have been many sources to give us this information. To look closely at the situation, it may be a distinct possibility.
What more does Coach Saban have to accomplish in college football? He's already won a National & SEC Championship. This may be the break he's been looking for. If he does take it, you have to feel bad for LSU and it's fans. They really took a liking to this guy and embraced him as one of their own. He has brought pride back to Baton Rouge and whomever is his successor, he will have very large shoes to fill.
I think he's going to take it and it will be reported in the coming weeks.

I dont think Saban is going anywhere to be honest. He could have took the Dolphins job earlier but turned that down. I think he still have things to accomplish in college such as an outright not shared National Title. LSU has a bright future ahead of them and I think Saban will be apart of it for a few years to come. Saban is a good coach and will probably get a head coachin job in the NFL one day but I dont see him leaving LSU just yet.

One thing people are forgetting is that:
He has family up there.
He has always wanted a HC job in the NFL.

I agree. He makes the conference better and more competitive.

Nope, Nick won't leave LSU. First, his children are embedded in schools in Baton Rouge. Secondly, Nick and his wife and family are strong Catholics, and Baton Rouge is Catholic Heaven-on-Earth. Third, he has no competition in recruiting in Louisiana, and he has great recruiting success in Texas and other surrounding states; even in Florida. He currently has the administration building him a new suite of football offices and dressing rooms adjacent to the practice fields, and Tiger Stadium is being significantly upgraded for next year with improved West Side seating, suites, and media facilities. And Nick has said on several occasions that he would much rather work with college kids than with the many spoiled-brat, childish adults in the NFL. Nick's not leaving Baton Rouge anytime soon.
The latest is that the Miami Dolphins have offered Saban 4 mill a year and upper management duties. Goodbye Mr. Saban.

;) Well, the son-of-a-gun may leave, but it isn't a done deal yet (3:22 p.m., Wednesday, 12-15-04). Talk radio in the Baton Rouge area is rampant with theories and guesses, but no firm announcements yet. The guess here is that if we don't get a firm message from Nick by nightfall saying that he is not interested, then he is likely going.
Hey, if he leaves, maybe we can go after Mike Price!

I told ya he was going to bolt to the NFL. He has nothing left to accomplish in the college ranks. :p

Yep, you sure did! You're proving to be a regular fount of wisdom.
Lots of talk is emerging about LSU and Butch Davis, but I would rather have Mike Price. Hey, wouldn't it be a riot if we ended up with Cut! Shucks, we might even lure the Ball Coach away from the Gamecocks! Strange things happen.
