I believed i picked Tennessee, Georgia , and LSU , thats just off the top of my head. I think those was the only three SEC games played this week.

Usually Chris I believe updates them within a few days. He's a real busy man. He'll get to it probably by Tuesday.

I figured thats what it was. I know dude is busy and all. I wasnt tryin to be pushy or nuffin i was just a curious. So if we go into the SEC game tied maybe you should pick Tennessee so i can pick Auburn and win the board lol :p ... Just a thought lmao

YOU MUST BE CRAZY! LOL There's no way I would bet on Tennessee beating Auburn. To do that, you would have to convince me to play a game of "Russian Roulette" with my semi-automatic Glock 31. (.357 Sig) :D

LoL i guess we might need an SEC pick 'ems plus one game to break our tie at the top or maybe we can be co-national pick 'em champions lol

I don't get to talk to him that much anymore. He has a few sites that he works on, goes to school, works full-time and raises a family. WHEW!

I PM'd him earlier today about the BOTD feature. I have tons of CD's full of willing models :) that I would like to contribute. heh heh

Dude...for me...addicted is a nice way of putting it. Lately things haven't been going well here with the wifey and I have been spending more time on here because it's one of the few places where I can enjoy myself and talk to other SEC fans considering I live in ACC/UNC territory.

I really LOVE this site. That's why I signed up to be a News Writer. I love this site/college football and I wanted to be a part of it and watch it grow.

Sorry things arent going well at the moment with the wife but we all know how women are sometimes. I do about the same thing tho. Ill come online and post stuff in here and read stuff just to get away from things here. It used to be the sports chat rooms that got me but chat rooms arent really my thing anymore. I tell ya man you are very informitive and a nice guy and Im glad you are part of the site. Your posts and a few others are pretty much what keeps this place going and expanding as well as it has lately. We still got the bowl games to pick too , I forgot about that myself lol Are ya watchin the USC / Notre Dame game on ABC now? USC is startin to pull away from the Irish.

Yep! I'm watching it on WSOC-4 out of Charlotte.

Well, I used to go to collegefootballnews.com all the time until RW-13 recommended this site to me. Since I came here for the first time, I do not care to go anywhere else. I look at it this way, Chris made me audition so to speak for the News Writer position and one way I can show my appreciation to him is by helping his site and it's members. Last time I checked, I already have 15 referrals and I am constantly advertising this site and telling people about it. The more people, the more money he makes, the more features and such he can add.

I also try not to report on just USC stuff. I try to spead it around and report news on all teams. Sometimes, that isn't always possible though. Let me tell ya this, if it wasn't for this site keeping me busy, I would have already gone "Holy Bat-Pee" on my wife at times. LOL!

Hardie

Ditto! I may be a USC fan but, I was rooting for Alabama when I went to the Sugar Bowl back in 92 I think it was. The Alabama/Miami showdown. My uncle was CEO of SuperValu before he retired and he had a skybox in the Sugar Bowl. He invited my sister and I to that game and it was one of the most exciting I have ever seen.

The best play was when DB George Teague stripped that Miami WR of the ball and ran it back. WHEW!

Typical LACK OF CLASS by Mr. Pete Carroll. You were up by 24 with 6 mins left to play and you run a fake punt and score another TD. They are just wanting to run up the score and make a statement.

Oklahoma is playing Colorado in the Big XII. The guys earlier were saying that Colorado actually could upset Oklahoma. Colorado has some top notch talent and some big playmakers on it's team this year.

Only downside to Auburn winnin the championship is that they are our arch rivals and they are going to hold this over our head for years lol. Thats ok tho we got 12 national titles ( 5 more that arent really mentioned ) and over 20 somethign SEC titles so I guess I can live off of that for a few more years unless they get on roll and start gettin close to us lol.

That's my point. How do you know if it wouldn't be a good rivalry unless you play the game? Scheduling UAB or Troy would be good for the program. It would help yall with in-state recruiting and it would help the smaller schools with exposure. So you in a sense, help each other. I'm all for these smaller schools playing tougher schedules. In my eyes, it gives them credibility. Even if UAB were to lose to Bama 34-10, I would still look at UAB with honor because they tried their best and gave it everything they had.

That's why I support what Central Florida does. For the last few years, their OOC games have been against Top-25 opponents. They are trying to legitimize their program. You will only get better when you play the best. Look at USC for instance. When they joined the SEC 12 years ago, they were horrible. They now have a fighting chance.

Like I said earlier, when you play the best, you will only get better in time.

Hardie
11-27-2004, 10:52 PM
I agree with ya 100% on that. I think alot of other teams would benefit from interstate rivals with smaller schools. Like you said it would help them legit their programs and it would also help with keepin key recruits in state at atleast one of the states schools. Plus you never know when one of these lil teams will come up and upset one of the big boys and that will totally bring respect to their program.

Neo

When you multiple instate rivalries, more recruits will stay instate. I guarantee you that. The state of Alabama is lucky though. They have multiple Div. I teams. South Carolina does not.

The only Div. I teams in SC are USC and Clemson.

I do not condone Div. I teams scheduling a THRASHING of a Div. II team. The only way I would condone that is if it were a scheduling emergency. Sorta like what Auburn had to do this year by scheduling The Citadel. It's virtually no different than a 10th grade student beating up on someone in Kindergarden.

Example: Kansas State vs. Alabama A&M

Kansas State is notorous for scheduling pansies!

As for Mississippi State, I think Mr. Croom has done a great job. This guy inherited a bunch of turds and he did what he could. It's going to take time to build that program, but I think he has it going in the right direction.

I agree with ya there, I think within 5 yrs Miss St will be back to where they was in the mid 90s when they was one of the toughest teams in the SEC. Overall with the direction the SEC is going it looks like the whole confrence is going to be even tougher than what it already is. I dont think Mr. Stoops nor Mr. Carroll would be going undefeated this year had they played in the SEC.

If ol' Mr. Carroll would play even half of an SEC schedule, he would get his butt stomped. Everyone says that the SEC isn't as good as it has been and that is partially true. I think the weaker teams are just getting better. The SEC is in my humble opinion, is just becoming more and more competitive. The top teams aren't losing per say, the weaker teams are just getting better and are close to being on par with the big guys!

Hardie

Yes it is possible and btw, speaking of conferences, am I the only one that thinks Nebraska should NOT have fired Mr. Frank Solich? I have been a USC/Nebraska fan since I was knee high and I could not believe my ears when I heard that. Here's a guy that goes 7-7. He's told to make changes or he's gone. So he fires all of his staff, hires a new staff and goes 9-3. Then what does the AD do? They fire him. I still cannot understand the rationale behind that. For the first time in 35 years, Nebraska will NOT be going to a bowl. I think what kept Nebraska on top was continuity in the program.

Hardie
11-27-2004, 11:26 PM
Yeah I think that was a bludner on the part of the Nebraska decision makers. Frank was doing a great job but seein as Nebraska has that winnin tradition they felt a 9 - 3 season was gettin away from what they wanted. In firing Frank they plumited the program down to medicrocy. I think they are going to have to hav ea strong recruitin year and discover this thing called the forward pass to get Nebraska back to where it needs to go. I wasnt a big fan of them hirin Bill Calahan either. Nebraska is a long way from the days of Tom Osborne and the option offense.

Don't fix it if it's not BROKEN! Continuity is the key. If you do the math, Solich's first few years were better than Osborne's.

Osborne was Devany's asst.
Solich was Osborne's asst.
and so on and so forth. That's 30+ years of continuity.

Callahan is a PUTZ!

Well it looks good for the program. I mean all these Moms and Dads that send their kids to school, they want to know that the coach that recruited their kid is going to take care of him the whole time he's there. It reflects positively on the school when they pass the torch down like that.
