[This is my first post on this forum...glad somebody sent me the link BTW; and I was just wondering who you guys thought would be the top three finishers in the SEC this year in basketball. I don't see anything to post a poll or I would put one up in this post. Your thoughts??

Not really analyzing the teams, I would say probably Kentucky, Florida and USC.

I like the design at the top of this board...especially the rate thread button. Could you put up a "poll" button? One that would let us get % ratings of whatever interests us? Would be really nice!

I think its gonna be Kentucky , Miss St , and probably Alabama. Those are my 3 top teams in the SEC this year in basketball.

UK and Miss St. are stil my picks, as far as the 3rd team, it is hard to say, AL looks strong for the running in the third spot. Will be interesting to see who steps in and fills that third position. But I see another repeat UK vs. Miss St. for the SEC Championship.

I think Kentucky is def the strongest team coming out of the east but in the west Imma have to give the edge to Bama over Miss ST but after Bama losin to Washington over the weekend I really dont know anymore.

East
1. Kentucky
2. Florida
3. South Carolina
4. Tennessee
5. Vanderbilt
6. Georgia
WEST
1. Alabama
2. Mississippi St.
3. Arkansas
4. LSU
5. Auburn
6. Ole Miss
I like Kentucky to be the champion, but i see UK, Fla,USC,MSU,Ala,Ark in for sure, with UT and LSU possibly getting a bid. The SEC normally only gets 6 teams in, but, because of the extreme balance of the league, the SEC could get 7 in this year and I think it will. I'd say LSU is that seventh team.

Id like to see 7 SEC teams in the tourney but I dunno. The ACC has emerged as the strongest college basketball confrense. they have , I think 5 - 6 teams just in the top 15 itself. The SEC is realy gonna have to step it up to compete with that. I aint sayin the SEC isnt top notch tho , I believe we are about the 3 best basketball confrense right now tho.

Right, I agree. The ACC is no doubt the strongest basketball conference, especially this year, and they'll get 7 in the big dance for sure. The SEC, on the other hand, is no doubt a top 3 conference each and every year. I think we'll get 7 in too, not b/c we're so good, just b/c it's going to be a dogfight as usual. I don't think anybody, not even mighty Kentucky, is going to come out of the league this year without some bumps and bruises. I think there're 8 teams in the league this year capable of winning 18-20 games if the ball bounces their way. I can't wait for it all to play out. I also can't wait to go to "The Rock" and watch Arkansas/Illinois play. Illinois is smoking right now though and i don't think there's any doubt that they're playing the best basketball in the country now. I just hope we can keep it remotely close.

I hope Arkansas can pull off the upset but I gotta tell ya I watched a lil of the Illinois vs Wake Forrest game and Ill looked very impressive. Good luck to the Hogs tho.

Again Vanderbilt being underestimated and that's fine. As usual I would pick Kentucky at
the top spot, followed by Mississippi State. With the rest being who's hot and playing the
best ball at the right time.

Vandy1, I have no idea why Vandy was so underestimated this year. Coaching is always the strong point for you guys....and that wasn't dropping off, so I dunno. There's a natural inclination in any analysis of this league to put Vandy down, and it's really not right.
Anyway, I think you guys have a great team and I'm sure USC and Vandy will have another pair of nailbiters this season.
Overall, the SEC is OK. What the SEC lacks in basketball, that the other major conferences have, is ATMOSPHERE. Even in the ACC's down years a couple of years ago, they still had the edge in this regard.
Rupp.....and maybe a couple of other arenas when sold out (in Columbia and Fayetteville) are exceptions. But the big football-first schools in this league really lack that "big game" feel for basketball....

The O'Dome is crazy.. I think the atmosphere is always good there.. The SEC i is very tough this year. Like the ACC, any team can win on any given night.

1 Kentucky
2 Miss. St.
3 Alabama
4 Florida
SEC looks incredibly weak at this point. Hopefully the SEC will get it together and make a better showing in the NCAA tourney at the end of the year. There is a lot of great young talent in the league.

yeah, I've just been caught up in the excitement after tonight's game. Usually I'm not a very big basketball fan, but I've been trying harder to keep up with things this season. Still have to say that Ole Miss on the road this Saturday, Florida on the road, and Miss St (again) on the road are going to be some pretty tough competitions for us. Especially Miss St, since they have some "revenge" after tonight. :p
But the biggest game, by far, will be the UK game in T'town at the end of next month.
