I thought that Isom had canceled the visit from Tuberville this weekend.... which led everyone to think that he had decided on USC. But reports on GC central says that he met with TT this moring before he announces his decision?......whats up with that...did anyone know about this and/or how the meeting went?
Meeting went well, however he told gamecockcentral he is still leaning towards Carolina.

a very Acurate poster on the Gamecockcentral board has came out with the names of our "Silent" commits. and there must be some truth to this or Tony Morrell would have chimed in on the convo, but he is staying quite on this one. he said Cook, Ellis, and Isom are ours. he also mentioned that Hawthorne gave our coaches a Silent commitment even though he is still going to UT for a visit. also he says we still need to worry about Michigan for Patterson but he thinks we will hold on. there is also a rumor that we end up signing a total of 20+ more stars to our class this year with one being a whole handfull of stars. Take it for what it is worth but it seems this guy has a very reliable source inside the USC athletic Department but we will find out wednsday.
That would be wonderful, and I personally do not find it totally out of whack. Spurrier has been very quiet this recruiting season. Yes, he has been on a plane almost constantly (so much for he does not recruit), but he has had pretty much nothing to say for weeks now. He know sumtin we don't yet. :D

No offense meant but Hawthrone will not be going to USC.
It is down to Auburn and Tenn. My early guess is Auburn. You are a player for him but momma will rule in the final decision. Rose an earlier WR Auburn commit is getting the Bobby Bowden bill of goods this weekend and might defect to FSU. Hawthrone already has been told....
Isom is riding the fence again and no one but him knows as of now where that will be.
He invited CTT back into the in-home so the silent doesn't make sense. CTT had cancelled his original scheduled visit.
Unless you have spoken to him personally, I certainly would not count Hawthorne out at Carolina. He ranked the visit a perfect 10. For what it is worth, that is the ONLY one he has ranked a perfect 10 so far.

Ajiboye IS still being recruited by Carolina, and the admins. at Gamecockcentral have asked that we not be bashing him for his decommitment. He was simply doing what VT's coaches asked him to do. There is still a chance he could change his mind. One other note. THERE ARE NO OFFICIAL RECRUITS VISITING THIS WEEKEND.

I just went back and looked at Hawthorne's comments, and don't see where he ranked UGA a 10. Either way, his last comments were Auburn in the lead, followed by Carolina at 2 and UGA at 3. ALL are in the running.

If Sapp is totally committed to Clemson then why would he be at SC? I think we might be shooting at shadows with that one. I would love for Aber(I can't remember how to spell his name) to come back to where he belongs. But do I see that happening, probably not.

This is the last I will say. From a VERY reliable source......Carolina was HOPING for a HUGE recruit to step foot on campus tonight. The lights are on in the stadium and weight room, and that does not happen for no reason. That is all I know. If and when I find out who, I will let ya know. It probably won't be tonight. Everyone is very tight lipped about this right now, except to tease and tease and tease...... :D

why would they be working on the stadium in the middle of the night? i live right by the stadium and the only time those lights are on is during spring, summer and fall practice, game days, or during the recruiting weekends.
i feel comfortable posting this since i know for a fact that they have beefed up security, fencing, etc. so you couldn't copy me....but one of my favorite memories from college was sneaking into Williams-Brice after midnight when they had forgotten to turn off the lights in the luxury boxes. There was just enough light for my friends and I to throw the football deep down field and still see it well enough to catch it. I got to make sliding catches in the back of the endzone and throw TDs from the 50 (that's about as far as my arm will allow sadly, heh). It was pretty awesome.

I don't come here to fight or argue with anyone...
I tell you what my sources say to me...
As far as your post above. Here is an excerpt after his Auburn visit.
Homewood, Ala.—Tim Hawthorne says that his decision to move his official visit to Auburn up a few weeks was a great choice because it gave him some opportunities that even a lot of other high profile recruits don’t usually get.
“It was great,” he says about the visit, which he rated a perfect 10. “I really enjoyed myself. I think there were only like six recruits down there so I was the only receiver to come on an official this weekend and I got the chance to do a lot of one-on-one with the guys, Courtney Taylor, (Anthony) Mix, and Devin (Aromashodu) and Ben (Obomanu). So, I got to meet with the guys and hang out with them a little bit and I got some insight on what Auburn is all about.
So, the ten statement is not correct.
Four Auburn coaches visited him on home visit. Momma likes Auburn.
As far as Isom goes, you may still get him but he is the one that asked for the visit. I told you the moment CTT cancelled his trip to visit him and congradulated you guys. He is undecided at this moment.
My sources told me that both Peanut Whitehead and Hawthrone had told the Auburn staff they were coming.
That was one of the reasons Cromwell going to Louisville wasn't a on going recruiting fight along with Rose now looking at FSU.
Remembering these are 18 year olds in the national spot light for the first time in their lives. I wouldn't bet the house on anything they say or supposedly said.
Ernie Sims a couple of years ago and right before announcing told the Auburn staff he was an Auburn commit....

We are getting ourselves a heck on an offensive lineman in Garret Anderson.
"Home was where his heart was, and with an intimidating AP Calculus class on his fall schedule, Anderson decided to curtail the recruiting phone calls before school began, committing to the Gamecocks on Aug. 1." --- That is one smart kid. I'm taking that class next year and I heard it is hard as heck!
"If Southern Cal or Texas had offered, I still was planning to go to South Carolina," Anderson said. "I knew where I wanted to go."-- you can tell this guy isnt going to change his mind. He was determined to go to USC.

Clarence Bailey is the one quick fix O Lineman this staff brought in. I expect him to start at left tackle for us this year. He looks like a dominating pass protector on film. He will enroll in March when the second session of 8 week classes begins. This means he will participate in spring practice on a limited basis because most 8 week classes are held at night.

Hawthorne Working On Decision
By Phil Kornblut
WR Tim Hawthorne (6-3 205) of Homewood, AL has returned from his official visit to Tennessee. He is not available for comment tonight. "We're going into our dead period," his mother said. "But I can tell you the trip was very good. It kind of put Tennessee back in the mix with the others. Tim has always liked Tennessee. He got to learn a lot about the new staff members. This didn't make things any easier for us. Now we've got to talk about this school along with the others. I feel confident he has enought information and we'll just decide where he bests fits in. He's not going to school tommorrow. He'll go straight to the news conference Monday afternoon." Apparently, it's been suggested in some quarters that Hawthorne has known where he is going for sometime. Mrs. Hawthorne took umbrage at that. "This is a serious matter and we are not playing games about this," she said. "We have done too much and traveled too far to be playing games. All the gridirons look alike. But we've gone above all of that to determine where he will get a good education. But besides that, we had to look at other things to help him decipher where he wants to be. It's just so many things." Hawthorne is also considering USC, Georgia, Alabama and Auburn. He will announce Monday at 5:30 PM Eastern Time. His new conference will be carried over ESPNU.

Patterson Update
By Phil Kornblut
Richland Northeast DL Adam Patterson is working on his decision and did not make a final decison Monday. He met with his coach Jay Frye to go over his final list of USC, Michigan, Tennessee, NC State and Auburn. USC and Michigan appear to be the strongest with Patterson as of late Sunday night. He will try to make his decision Monday. He will announce Wednesday at 12:30.
My guess at this point is that if it was just a football decision he'd want to go to Michigan, but he's not sure that he wants to go so far away or deal with the cold winters.

Munnerlyn Update
By Phil Kornblut
DB Captain Munnerlyn (5-11 182) of Mobile, AL remains committed to USC after making an official visit to Kansas State, but he is anything but solid with that pledge as of late Sunday night. "South Carolina is number one but West Virginia is not that far behind, and Kansas State is last," Munnerlyn said after returning to Mobile. "West Virginia is moving up because they do the same things we do on offense and defense. They want me to play wide receiver like USC wants me to do. They are matching what South Carolina is telling me. Plus, they are going to start off ranked in the top five." Munnerlyn did talk to USC recruiters Ron Cooper and Steve Spurrier Junior Sunday night. "I told them I'll make my decision Wednesday." Munnerlyn plans to announce at a news conference at his school Wednesday at 11:00 AM Eastern Time.
Sounds like there's a good chance we're going to lose the Captain. As long as we have some certain DL players to replace him this won't hurt the class too much. Couldn't hurt to have as many speedsters as possible though if he decides to stick to his commitment.

Ok, so let's take a second and catch up on what the past few days has led us to believe.
1- We probably won't get Patterson, Hawthorne, Rose, Duvalt, Godfrey or Watson.
2-We probably will get Isom & Ellis. Who else?
3-We're 50/50 at best on Cook & Geathers (who knows if he'll even qualify) and we told Josh Johnson that we were all full.
4-We're spreading Ricky Sapp rumors ourselves (it seems to me....NOTHING on this anywhere but from Gamecock fans that I can find) to give ourselves something to hope for. Let the guy from Michigan spell it out like this; IT ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN. We'll be facing him once a year for the next few years and he's going to be in a Clemson uniform, unfortunately. I did find that the night he was supposedly in Columbia, he was also reported as visiting FSU and Georgia that same weekend. Busy guy, right there...
I'm normally not a pessimistic person but we're ending this recruiting season with a few thuds. Don't get me wrong, I think we've done great so far and the couple more we're expecting in will only help but there are a lot of guys who I thought we would get no problem & it's turned out just the opposite. :(
Losing Olufemi Ajiboye like that just plain sucked. I'm hoping like hell our staff hasn't given up on that kid cuz it seems to me he's probably as impressionable a person as you can get seeing as he committed to Illinois, then us & now VT after officially visiting each. That inability to say "no thanks" makes me think his commitment isn't sound no matter where he signs & I, for one, would welcome him back if he were to pull an 11th hour surprise in our favor.

I think a lot of you guys are too concerned about this recruiting class and the possibility of not getting these high profile guys at the end. We will get some of them, you can bet on that. Will we get all of them? NO. But that is to be expected. You can bet Spurrier is aware of who is comitted and who is not and if we get an exta guy then that is great. Either way this class will fullfill our needs, the lineman we so badly need.

I totally agree. POST only what you know to be true. We don't need to hear all this made up crap. I don't think it is good for the image of the University of South Carolina. We have a good recruiting class and if it gets better, great, we will take it. Please don't put things in a post that make us look like we are begging. We have a great university, great facilities, and a great coach, we have a lot to offer a recruit. Don't think that other people don't have excess to read what is posted here.

Watson Headed South
By Phil Kornblut
DE Dekoda Watson (6-2 210) of South Aiken has committed to Florida State according to his coach Dan Pippen. "He's always wanted to go to Florida State since he was a little kid," Pippen said. "And Florida State is Florida State." Watson also considered USC, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. This season the Shrine Bowl performer totaled 111 tackles with 23 for losses and 11 sacks.
Who didn't see this coming? hehe. Congrats to Watson....that has to be a great feeling to have a childhood dream come true.

The Latest on Patterson......
By Phil Kornblut
DL Adam Patterson (6-3 260) of Richland Northeast continues to mull over his decision Monday morning. He has officially cut his list to USC and Michigan according to his coach Jay Frye who said it's "basically 50-50" between the schools right now. "He's looking at depth charts and will be talking to coaches later today," Frye said. Patterson will announce his decision Wednesday at 12:30 PM.

Well at least we made it into the top 2. I think Patterson will see what SC has to offer. As of right now SC is on the rise and Michigan is on the decline. That right there should be enough but wait there's more, SC has no depth on the line, worst case senario Patterson is 2nd string, then there is the coach Spurrier or someone who if they don't pull off a 10 win season is probably headed for the unemployment line, and finally the location. Patterson can stay close to home where he will be the local star or he can head to Michigan where he is just another player. To me it seems easy. But then again Michigan's uniforms do look better then ours..........

Yes, the Sapp thing was rumor, but with good reason. Noone ever said it was for sure him. It really doesn't matter. There was a visitor here that evening, and probably only Spurrier and a few others know who it was. Ajiboye is still being recruited by Carolina, but I have no idea how hard.

Sorry to get you riled up about narcissistic players and recruits, bantum. The comment wasn't meant to be taken seriously. I wouldn't ever actually believe that a player with aspirations of playing in the nfl would go somewhere simplay because he liked the uni's. Then again . . . the broncos and the bucs never won the superbowl until they switched uni's, and I don't think the patriots ever won one in their old uni's either.

Oh Yeah! That's what I'm talking about! The Cocks have seldom had the killer instinct that good teams habitually have. Bring these types of guys to the campus in spades. We need about 50 more like him.....and I think we have a coach that knows how to find them.

Hell no, and ours look way better than UM's. What we need is the 1994 or 1995 jerseys, the garnet helmets (black cages), garnet pants (and black pants they used too that season), those were some nice looking jerseys, I don't mind our 2005 jerseys, but the color needs to be our real garnet, not some ugly red, but they are better than anything holtz had us wear....

By Phil Kornblut
Sticking with his plan of going public with his commitment today, DL Kenrick Ellis (6-5 335) of Lake Worth, FL said Monday afternoon he is an official commitment to USC. "Tell the fans I love them there in South Carolina," Ellis said. "After my visit, I just fell in love. Everything was just right, you know. The opportunity to play. I can get a good education. I felt at home. I just felt like I believe I belonged there. And I just believe in coach Spurrier." Ellis also considered Tennessee, Rutgers and Michigan among the many offers he received. This season he totaled 67 tackles with 13 for losses and 7 sacks. He will now try to convince his good friend, RB Emmanuel Cook, to join him at USC. "It's a surprise," he said of Cook's upcoming decision. "I'm going to still talk to him." Cook plans to announce Wednesday.

it was actually 16 and you guys avg'd about 3 minutes more on offense each game, otherwise i'll bet it would be a good bit more in our column.
the point is moot though, cause if our running game was as successful as auburn's i'm sure we'd be throwing the ball the same amount if not less.

Cook Appears USC Bound
By Phil Kornblut
USC has moved to the front with RB Emmanuel Cook (5-11 200) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL according to his coach Kevin Flurey. "It looks like South Carolina," Flurey said Monday afternoon. He's going to hold out until Signing Day. I would say it's 60-40 South Carolina (over NC State). I think the staff is a big reason why and the way he was treated, and maybe the fact it's a little be closer to home. Coach Spurrier (Jr) did a great job recruiting him. They did a great job. He really felt comfortable with them." Cook plans to announce his decision around 9:00 AM Wednesday.

NICE TO HAVE KENRICK ELLIS! :) I'm LOVING his size and especially his attitude. It really seems like we have some good leaders coming in this year. Chris Smelley, our QB of the future, has done his part already and one of the first things Kenrick Ellis, our DT of the future, says is "I'm going to still talk to him." Wonder what he meant by "it's a surprise." when asked about Cooks' upcoming decision....wonder if he was smiling ruefully or disappointed sounding but still hoping to sway him? I like Cook's size too for a RB...
As for the rest, I'm still hoping on Hawthorne, more or lost hope on Patterson, highly hopeful on Isom and lost hope on Rose. Our chances with Cook just got a lot better but I would hope he was pretty close to choosing us anyway.

That is EXACTLY what I was saying. That is one of the main reasons why they beat us. They have talent in-state and we don't. I would like to respectfully disagree just a bit. I certainly understand what you are saying, however the best talent normally wins, regardless of where those kids come from. We recruit a lot from Georgia and Florida. Whereas it may not be personal to them, they are aware of the hatred. I new of it when I lived in Atlanta. Fact of the matter is, we have not had the talent Clemson has for quite some time. Those days are finally changing slowly but surely. We are getting better players, who will be in better shape, quicker, stronger, etc. Our day is coming. Now, I agree we need to do a better job of recruiting our state, but we need more and better talent period. :)

I get what y'all are saying about the Klimpsen game, but I just don't buy that arguement. They beat us because they have better players for their system than we usually do. That is about to change.
I am from Georgia, and I hate Klimpsen as much as anyone from South Carolina, and no one can argue that I don't. Just the same, I expect all of the guys on our team from out-of-state can't stand Klimpsen, and they understand the rivalry as soon as they set foot on this campus.
Auburn has had a lot of success against Alabama recently, and they have many starters from out-of-state. Heck, they have many starters from Columbia or guys who have played in Columbia. This doesn't have any negative effects on the way they play against Alabama. Let's not get in the habit of making yet another excuse as to why we cannot beat Klimpsen. Let's just accept the fact that in recent history, they run their system better than we have. Bottom line, they have been better. Bottom line, it's about to change. This offensive line class is about to become our bottom line.

Sure, we win occasionally without having the big men up front, but the numbers show us all the painful difference. I think it boils down to one thing...LINEMEN.

Miller DE looks to be headed to us.
Whitehead DE has us leading late in the game.

Different formations, different playbook, different blocking schemes, receivers expected to actually catch a ball, 2 freshmen playing tailback, etc. There was a LOT going on last year, and look at how they responded. Now we have beef, depth at MOST positions, and a team who has experienced the Spurrier offense for an entire season now. It only gets better folks. This is a YOUNG YOUNG team. They are fast, strong, talented, and will solidify more and more with each passing season.

Again, these are 18 year olds in the spotlight more then they ever have been... Guessing where they are going is almost impossible even if your a coach and have direct contact with them...I don't!
I would however like to point out that a week ago. I stated that Hawthrone would not go to UGA. Patterson looks to be headed to Mich. One of the reasons Auburn was eliminated for Patterson was depth on the D-Line and one of the best classes coming in.
Miller DE looks to be headed to us.
Whitehead DE has us leading late in the game.
Deas DT has us in his final three.
Peters DT has us still listed
FYI The last time Isom was asked where he was going, he almost teared up... It is that close as of right now.
My sources say Hawthrone will go to Tenn. or Au..... Would I bet alot on it? No! I have a wife and kids in college.....
As much as I have grown to love this stuff, and cannot get enough, I am truly glad that in less than an hour the Hawthorne mystery will be over. Whoever gets him congrats. If it is not Carolina, then it's time to move on. :)

I agree about the beef up front that we lose to Clemson, but I think it is more the defense side of the ball than the offense. We have had some decent offensive lineman, but can you think of any really good DT that we have had that could stand up to the DT that Clemson has had. They remind me a lot of Tennessee. Most of the really good DT from SC end up at Tennessee or FSU. That is why I am so excieted to have Ellis. He and Patterson could anchor a good line for a few years.

Tim Hawthorne Update
By Phil Kornblut
WR Tim Hawthorne of Homewood, AL is set to announce his choice at 5:30 this afternoon on ESPNU. For what it's worth, the Hawthornes plan to contact the losing schools this afternoon to let them know Tim is not going there. As of 4:30 PM Eastern, USC had not been called.

By Phil Kornblut
According to a source close to DL Byron Isom of Lovejoy, GA, Isom still appears set to commit to USC when the school holds a news conference at 6:30 PM Tuesday for their signing players. I hope we get Isom. So far this year hasn't been very good in the closing days. We have had a great class, but oddly enough many of our recruits were already committed in the waning days. Reports: Godfrey, Rose Cut Lists
By Phil Kornblut
According to CUTigers.com, TE Dennis Godfrey (6-3 255) of Sanford, NC has trimmed his list to Wake Forest and Virginia Tech eliminating Clemson, USC and Virginia. He will announce his choice Wednesday. And according to a Scout.com report, OL Daron Rose (6-6 320) of Tampa is no longer considering Michigan and is down to USC and Florida State.
Rose is almost certainly going to FSU, but at least he's still thinking about it at this point. Missing out on Godfrey isn't a big deal, and at least he's not going to Clemson, heh.
Also, Patterson has made his decision but won't announce til Wednesday. They're still saying all indications point to Michigan though. Both schools have already been informed of his decision so maybe WB can find out so we can get this over with.
Assuming King doesn't qualify and Rose goes to FSU, that will leave us with one extra player if we sign Isom and Cook alone on Wed. Broadhead would certainly grayshirt at that point, making next year's outlook much easier. Though I'll gladly take Rose and/or Patterson on Wed.

Patterson is the one recruit that has publically stated that each teams depth chart would play a factor in his decision....
Looking at Mich. currently and then USC. It makes no sense on why he is leaning towards the Wolverines.......
It must be something else...
Something's fishy in Ann Arbor & I wish someone could explain it to me in a way I understand. First, Carlos Brown choose the frigid cold of UM even though they weren't mentioned as a possibility in the weeks leading up to his announcement, not to mention the bevy of solid RB's waiting in line in front of him.
Now Patterson, who says depth chart (read: PLAYING TIME) will play a factor in his decision between USC & the Wolverines and they're stacked there too. They have five DT's coming back from last year's team and they redshirted two 4-star DT's from last years' class who, from what my annoying UM-fan friends tell me are immediate impact type guys. Not to mention the 4-star DT they already have committed to them right now. UM is and always will be stacked across both OL & DL, especially at DT. They even have a DT from Saline, MI signed for next year's class and they know they're getting Jason Kates (http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=28717) and Corey Peters (http://michigan.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=30446) on top of it all on NSD.
The only things I can think of as to a reason why he'd mention depth charts as a factor are 1) he didn't have anything else ready to say when he was asked or, 2) he's being told by Lloyd Carr & Co. that he'll be given a shot at DE and that's really where he wants to play at the next level.
I'll wish Adam the best of luck no matter where he chooses but if he cites depth chart as an important factor and picks Michigan anyway....well, he's going to need all the luck he can get. UM's conservative defensive scheme is a whole 'nother monster that Adam should really take into consideration. Does he want to play a key role in an aggressive style defense that gets after the QB or does he want to spend the next few years holding down a running lane and playing the conservative D that UM has taking such a liking to?

I think what Michigan has going for it is that it is a traditional powerhouse and SC isn't. People have trouble changing and it is gonna take SC winning more consistently over the next few years. The closest we got to that was after the 8- and 9-3 seasons. Everyone thought that the next year we would be really good but we failed to fulfill the expectations. It took Spurrier awhile to make Florida the way they are but now they get picked up on TV just because they are considered by the entire nation to be a premier school. Michigan is in that category. I am sure that is Patterson's hangup and many other recruits hangup. Just give Spurrier some time and before long SC will be the "premier" team.

I've heard it's mostly academics. Adam and his family were more concerned with academics than anything else. It's no secret that UM has a way better academic track record than we do. Oh well, I never really understood why he was so highly recruited. He undersized for a DT (about 250 lbs.). Also his stats weren't all that impressive. He had less than 10 sacks playing in SC. I mean look at his teammate and USC commit Rodney Paulk's stats compared his. I'd rather have him than not have him, but I won't lose sleep over it.

RNE’s Patterson to sign with Michigan
Richland Northeast High’s Adam Patterson will sign with Michigan on Wednesday, barring a last-minute change of plans.
Patterson, one of the nation’s top defensive line prospects, also is considering South Carolina. But he plans to sign with the Wolverines at a 12:30 p.m. press conference at the school
We’ve got the papers for both (schools),’’ Richland Northeast coach Jay Frye said this afternoon. ``As it stands right now, it looks like Michigan.’’
The 6-foot-2, 256-pound Patterson, a first-team all-state selection who also played in the Shrine Bowl, made official visits to Michigan, USC, Auburn, Tennessee and N.C. State this month.
He narrowed his list to Michigan and USC on Monday.
``We’re excited for him wherever he goes,’’ Frye said. ``We’re proud of his accomplishments and proud of how he handled himself throughout the process. We’re supportive of his decision.’’
Patterson had 77 tackles, eight tackles for losses and seven sacks for the Cavaliers this season.

It's going to be a big weekend for us. We are going to be hosting some of the top prospects in the state of South Carolina at our Junior Day. Some include: Gary Gray, Quinton Richardson, and Mark Barnes. There is going to be a lot of talent in the state of South Carolina next year and I think we have to win the in-state battle with Clemson to get some of these guys to come play for us. It is going to be important that we make a good impression on Gray especially. Someone on the board reported that he was coming out early and he will make his decision pretty quickly. Barnes said that he wanted to get the recruting out of the way before the start of his senior season. If we don't get them, and Clemson dosen't get them, I'll be ok with that. We have got to win the in-state recruting battle for once.

gamecockcentral has got to be the worst website of gamecock fans. they are complaining about Patterson leaving for Michigan. and actually threating coach Frye. seems everyone over there is mad at him because he is a gamecock alumn and former player and all, yet he "Fought" to get AP to go to up to UM. i have a problem with this, Frye is a great coach and a great guy. he is only looking out for his players by not pushing them to any school and letting them make there own decisions. he wants to make sure his guys are comfortable with the decisions they make. in my oppinion thats how all coaches should be. Guide the players dont force them. all these fans threatening coach Frye could really hurt the Rep of our other fans and our university. with 2 of the best players from SC coming from his school next year this could possibly hurt our chances with Barnes and Gray and future RNE players. I think Coach Frye did the right thing and hopefully this kind of behavior will not affect the reputation of our fans. i hate to lose Patterson because he is a VERY good player but i will wish him all the luck in the world with his decision to go to UM because that is what he feels is the best thing for him to do. so Good Luck Mr. Patterson and be sure to represent South Carolina very well up there in the Frigid North.

gamecockcentral has got to be the worst website of gamecock fans. they are complaining about Patterson leaving for Michigan. and actually threating coach Frye. seems everyone over there is mad at him because he is a gamecock alumn and former player and all, yet he "Fought" to get AP to go to up to UM. i have a problem with this, Frye is a great coach and a great guy. he is only looking out for his players by not pushing them to any school and letting them make there own decisions. he wants to make sure his guys are comfortable with the decisions they make. in my oppinion thats how all coaches should be.
Great points.
I just remembered my least favorite thing about recruiting, all the people who attack people for not making the decision they want them to make.

USC had a chance to land a commitment from DB Chris Duvalt (5-10 165) of Lakeland, FL when he visited earlier this month but didn't make him an official offer at the time. Duvalt has since committed to Illinois. But with the way things have worked out, USC now has a scholarship available for Duvalt and the Gamecocks are trying to regenerate his interest. "When Chris took his trip, he might have committed if they had had something for him," his coach Keith Demyer said Tuesday. "He talked to coach Spurrier today. He also talked to West Virginia and Illinois. I'm not sure what he's going to do." Duvalt is scheduled to sign tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM.
This could be a great signing day surprise...

By Phil Kornblut
RB Emmanuel Cook (5-11 200) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL has committed to USC according to his coach Kevin Flurey. "It's a done deal," Flurey said. "I don't think there will be any change. He's a heck of a commitment for South Carolina. They know they got a good one." Cook picked USC over NC State. This season he rushed for 2021 yardsand 29 touchdowns.

Sweet! Those are some good numbers, I don't care who ya are or who's doing the blocking. You don't go for over 2000 and almost score 30 times without having a ton of natural ability & a nose for the endzone. Score one for the good guys! :)

Byron Isom Update

The news conference at Lovejoy High will be starting up around 6:50 or so. There are 11 kids who will be announcing. Isom will go last. Look for his announcement around 7:20 or so.

Isom's been torn and if there's ever been a 50/50 decision, this is it. Cross yer fingers, I think he's going to make his decision during the short walk to the podium! :D

Cook is a great pickup. He may not be a big name at RB but neither was Corey Boyd and we saw the type of competitor he turned out to be.
I believe Spurrier is doing a great job and I said so from the beginning. I really wasn't expecting us to get the talent along the lines that we got. I knew we would get a few but as many as we got is amazing. It just shows that Spurrier knows what he is doing.
The Duvalt would be a big ending just because it would be another athlete to add to our team that is slowly but surely being filled with the type of athletes needed for the next level.
2007 recruiting is going to be wild. I don't even want to imagine the 2007 season because it is bad to wish your life away in want to get to the future! :D

Gamecockcentral is actually a good, very informative website IMO. You get all the quotes from Spurrier, up to the minute recruiting reports, practice reports, etc. It unfortunately has just like any other site some very misinformed people who could not catch a football if you handed it to them. I have seen the posts about Frye, and the administrators are not happy about that, nor are the people who know anything about athletics. Coach Frye is trying to help Adam do what is best for him, and I appreciate that. That is the way it should be. I don't hate Adam nor coach Frye for anything. He has the right to go anywhere he wishes without being judged. He is 18 yrs. old for goodness sake. If he wants to get out of town, that is his right. I am 35 and feel that way quite often. I have no idea if he will start or not, but I would not be surprised. He could be some player. Anyway, my 2 cents worth. :)

Good news on getting Cook....that will turn out to be a great addition to the backfield. Now let's hope Isom plays on the side of the ball that he really wants, which is
