And why would he go the USC they got John David Booty and the #1 QB from last years class I think its Hernadez? Maybe Spurrier can use some recruitng magic!!!! ;)

SPURED

hopefully he will do very good under spurrier. i know his stats arnt that great from high school only because of the system he has played under. i just hope he stays a gamecock so i will be able to keep up with my fellow Classmates. and who knows he may be able to help recruite Donkay Degraffenreid and David Erby. both team mates of his and former Class mates of mine. who are Both VERY VERY fast.

wow come to think about it if all three of those players go to USC. that will make 5 Rock Hill high graduates playing for the gamecocks. Reciever Terrel Davis and Safety Ko Simpson are already on the team. :)

Hey Neo have you heard anything about Tebow I know he crossed out UF this weekend, I think his top schools are So. Cal and FSU.

Where did you hear that? I don't think it is true. Also I think Tebow's top 2 are Florida and Michigan. I am pretty sure he is going to be a Gator. He is an Alex Smith clone.

from the guy on the sporting news Matt Hayes, they got a recruit out of Texas named Jevan Snead(Blue-Chipper). And he is looking elsewhere like FSU and So. Cal! go to the Sportingnews.com and look under expert lists:Matt Hayes archives, the date is May 15,2005. Maybe Jerry Beads or Neo can post it on this thread!

I still doubt it is true. I trust rivals whose main thing is recruiting over sporting news anyday. I know they just got Jevan Snead but Tebow is most likely a top 3 QB in the nation and he shouldn't be afraid of any competition. If that is true it would be all over rivals or scout. Tebow is a perfect fit for Oscar's offense and his parents are UF grads, he had siblings at UF, and he grew up loving the Gators. He will go to Florida IMO.

Also that is what that guy thinks and he is in the minority. Tebow hasn't said that in any interviews or anything.

I heard that Antinio Lamar failed to meet academic standards to play with the team next year. Is verification possible?
Also rivals posted information on UNC's recruits (general info and how they are doing towards eventual qualification) anyone have any info on SC's recruits?

USC Interested In Mississippi OL
By Matthew Pitts
Mississippi OL T.J. Harper (6-1 330) of Meridian High School has caught the attention of a few schools this spring. Harper is not your typical OL. He carries a lot of weight and brings a lot of power with him as well. Harper currently holds a 425 pound bench max, and his high school coach, Ed Stanley believes he is only getting stronger. "He is very powerful and has good feet, and he haves a great attitude", Coach Stanley said. Harper currently does not have any offers, but has been contacted by USC, Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Alabama. Harper attended a NIKE Combine at Ole Miss recently and according to his coach he opened a lot of eyes. Harper also plans to attend summer camps at Ole Miss, Mississippi State and several others. He currently has no favorites.

NC Athlete Close To USC, CU Offers
By Phil Kornblut
ATH Deunta Williams (6-3 195) of Jacksonville, NC is one of the more versatile players in the Tar Heel State. Williams, at one time or another, has played receiver, tight end, quarterback, running back, safety, cornerback and linebacker. Last season he had 400 yards receiving, 300 yds rushing, 200 yards passing and accounted for 14 touchdowns. On defense he had 7 interceptions. Williams says he has has firm offers from North Carolina, NC State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Duke, East Carolina and Wake Forest. He says USC and Clemson are indicating offers are coming. "Coach Spurrier is going to come after me," Williams said of the Gamecocks' interest. He's also getting interest from Tennessee. Williams says his top four are USC, North Carolina, NC State and Virginia and is a slight lean to the Tar Heels. He hopes to camp this summer at USC, Clemson, Virginia, North Carolina, NC State and Wake Forest.

USC And Clemson Interested In Florida LB
By Matthew Pitts
LB Craig Stevens (6-3 205) of Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Florida has entertained a lot of schools this spring. According to Head Coach David Wilson, just about every school you can think of has been by to see Stevens. "Everybody has been by to see Craig and have either offered or planning to offer soon", Coach Wilson said. Stevens is coming off of an excellent junior season, which saw him lead his team in total tackles with 140. "He is a tenacious tackler that really has a nose for the football, and he is very strong and fast at his position", says Coach Wilson. Stevens currently has offers from Florida State, Florida, Miami, Maryland, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas. USC, Clemson, North Carolina, N.C. State, Oklahoma and Southern California have all been in contact. Stevens will be attending team camps this summer. He currently does not have a favorite.

Stockstill Making Jacksonville Rounds
By Phil Kornblut
For years Rick Stockstill has been the dominant football recruiter in Jacksonville, FL. First for Clemson and now for USC, Stockstill has developed strong ties to the talent rich city. Stockstill is making his spring run though the Jacksonville area and one of his first stops was Nease High School in nearby St. Augustine, home of highly regarded QB Tim Tebow (6-3 225). USC and Clemson are among the more than 70 schools to offer Tebow. According to his father, that list has not been cut. "He's still listening because people are till coming to school," Mr. Tebow said. "In a few week we'll narrow things down. We want to give everybody the same chance. South Carolina and Clemson are both interesting to me, his dad. Spurrier certainly knows how to coach quarterbacks and win championships. And Clemson has a new offensive coordinator and he has a great reputation for developing the passing game." Clemson recruiter Dabo Swinney has also made his visit to Tebow's school. Tebow has not favorites according to his father. He is still playing baseball and hasn't participated in spring practice. He will spend June throwing to his own receivers. In July, he will be in the Philipenes on a mission and when he returns he will attend the Elite 11 camp in California.

USC Interested In North Carolina Runner
By Phil Kornblut
USC is showing interest in RB Michael Angram (5-9 165) of East Flat Rock, NC. Angram said a USC recruiter was by his school Wednesday to gather information. Angram, who could not recall the USC coach's name, said the Gamecocks would like him to come in for summer camp, and he's considering going. Angram has an offer from Eastern Kentucky and is also getting interest from North Carolina, Wake Forest, Virginia, Georgia Tech and Maryland. He does not have a favorite. Angram was among the leading rushers in North Carolina last season with 2500 yards and 28 touchdowns.

Riverside Trio Getting Looks
By Matthew Pitts
Riverside has been a popular place for college coaches this spring. QB Michael Wade (6-3 195) is coming off an excellent junior season, which saw Wade complete 99 passes for 1388 yards and 9 touchdowns. Coach Don Frost is happy to have him back for another year. "He is a fantastic athlete that has a very strong arm and is a fierce competitor." Wade has been offered by Duke and USC while Clemson, Georgia, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Stanford and North Carolina have all been in contact. PK Richard Jackson (6-0 185) is also coming off an unbelievable junior season. Jackson ended the season with 19 PATS and 5 FGS. "He is an unbelievable kicker that kicks the ball extremely hard and accurate", says Coach Frost. Coach Frost also confirmed that Texas A&M and LSU are close to offering and Michigan, Georgia, Clemson and North Carolina have all been in contact. Jackson just returned from Las Vegas, Nevada where he competed in a tournament called, "The Last Man Standing". Jackson came away the winner after hitting a 57 yard field goal on his last kick. He currently does not have a favortie. Dustin Gourdin (6-0 180), who played DB and RB as a junior has been converted to WR this spring according to his coach, Don Frost, "we have moved him to WR because he does a great job running routes and is extremely fast." Gourdin has no offers, but has been contacted by USC, Vanderbilt, North Carolina, Wake Forest and Furman. He currently does not have a favorite. All three players plan to attend several summer camps including USC and Clemson.

A.C. Flora DL Drawing Interest
By Matthew Pitts
A.C. Flora DL Ryan Griffith (6-3 270) is drawing a lot of interest from schools this spring after having a solid junior season. Griffith racked up 68 total tackles with 9 QB hurries and 3 sacks his junior season and his coach, Robin Bacon believes he has what it takes to play at the next level. "He is very athletic with really quick hands and exceptional footwork", Coach Bacon says. Coach Bacon went on to say that Griffith plays aggressive every play. Griffith currently has no offers, but is drawing interest from USC, Clemson, Maryland and North Carolina. He currently does not have a favorite and plans to attend summer camps at both USC and Clemson.

Sapp Has New Offers & New Top 10
By Phil Kornblut
More offers have come in for Bamberg-Ehrardt DE Ricky Sapp (6-5 220). His latest offers are from Florida State, Texas, Maryland and Houston. And he's made a few changes in his top ten over the past month. Sapp listed his ten favorites now as USC, Clemson, Georgia, NC State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Florida State, LSU, Auburn and Virginia Tech. Missing from his previous top ten are Nebraska, Penn State and Florida. Sapp says all the schools are even and he added he has no current favorite between USC and Clemson. And he has no preference between staying in state or leaving. Sapp said he has no camp plans at this time.

USC Offers Cox
By Phil Kornblut
USC has offered RB Jo Jo Cox (5-10 221) of Jeffersonville, GA according to his coach Dexter Copeland. Cox previously had been offered by Clemson, Penn State, Maryland, UCLA, Notre Dame, Texas Tech and Louisville. He's also getting interest from Illinois, Michigan, Southern Cal, Texas, Auburn, North Carolina, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Georgia Tech and Georgia. Copeland compares Cox's running style to Emmitt Smith. Cox rushed for 1790 yards and 18 touchcowns in 8 games last season.

Florida WR Receiving Interest From USC And Clemson
By Matthew Pitts
Bayside High WR/DB Kherryl O'Brien (6-2 210) has drawn a lot of interest from several programs heading into the summer. O'Brien has one offer currently from Southern Illinois, and he has been contacted by Miami(FL), Florida, Auburn, USC, Clemson, East Carolina and Temple. Head Coach Mike Davis believes O'Brien is what programs at the next level are looking for. "He is a very athletic and intelligent player that has a strong upside and will help somebody at the next level." O'Brien played both ways his junior season as a WR and DB while having 4 touchdown receptions on the year. O'Brien currently does not have a favorite and plans on attending Miami's summer camp and at least one more.

Harrison Eyeing Four
By Phil Kornblut
OL Josh Harrison (6-6 285) of Lake City says four schools are showing the most serious interest in him...USC, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Duke. His recruiters from those schools have called him this month. They've told him they want to see him in camp so they can further evaluate him and make a decision on an offer. He will attend one day camps at Clemson January 10th, USC on the 11th, Duke on the 12th and Virginia Tech in July. He does not have a favorite.

<So far, the only one that I've heard that is projected to qualify, but is having a little bit of trouble is DT Jarriel King. > Does this mean that everyone else is on track to qualify (I heard that Murdock and Thomas were having trouble).

Also I have read in many pre-season college football magazines that they are all predicting 4-5 wins for the cocks next season. I wasn't expecting a top 25 placement but goodness this seems pretty rough. (I know we have 5 pre-season top 25 teams on our scedule [Tennesse (!#2!), Flordia, Georgia, Auburn, & Alabama) but still. Also our offense is untested but I believe our defense may be #1 in the nation. With a superior secondary and linebacker corps, and a strong D-line they should be a force to handle. What is ya'lls thoughts?

D-line is inexperience so thats up in the air, LB will be great only if Hurley can remain healthy. Offense who knows either really good or really bad, up to either Heffner or Mitchell on that one. Id say 6 or 7 but nothin beyond that!

Childers Now Has New Favorite
By Matthew Pitts
WR Tori Childers (6-5 210) of Rock Hill has recently received two new offers. Those offers come from North Carolina and Virginia Tech. According to Childers USC is no longer his favorite. "USC is not my favorite anymore and Virginia Tech is now my favorite", said Childers. Childers also added that after Virginia Tech, North Carolina and USC in that order are his favorites. Childers says he will be camping at all three schools and then he hopes to have a decision after that. Childers has also drawn contact from Clemson, Michigan, N.C. State, Tennessee, Miami and Southern Cal.

Clemson And USC Like Alabama OL
By Matthew Pitts
Shades Valley OL Taylor Pharr (6-6 270) of Birmingham, Alabama has several offers heading into the summer and several other schools interested in him. Pharr has received offers from Clemson, Auburn, LSU, Vanderbilt, Louisville and Alabama. Florida, USC, Florida State, Miami, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Arkansas, Ole Miss and Mississippi State have all been in contact. Shades Valley Head Football Coach Mark Rice says Pharr's athletic ability is why so many schools are interested. "Taylor is just extremely athletic for his size. His lateral movement and footwork is amazing, and he is always working hard at whatever he does", said Coach Rice. Pharr also plays basketball for Shades Valley and bench presses 300 pounds and squats 400 pounds. Pharr currently has no favortie and is planning on attending two or three one day camps this summer.

LB is only good if Hurley is healthy? What about West, Laury, Lambert and the other linebackers who will not only be lightening fast but also hit like a train wreck! Hurley was actually the 4th leading tackler. #3 was Lawerence. Simpson was #2. I ain't saying he isn't great its just we will be fine all along the LB position. And our secondary is second to none.

Alabama QB Has Offer From USC And Clemson
By Matthew Pitts
Spain Park in Birmingham, Alabama is home to one of the nation's best QB prospects for 2006. QB Neil Caudle (6-4 200) leads one of Alabama's best high school football programs at Spain Park. Caudle had an exceptional junior season. Caudle completed 129 passes out of 200 attempts for 1624 yards and 15 touchdowns. Caudle also rushed for 424 yards on 43 carries for 4 touchdowns. Spain Park Head Coach Vince Dilorenzo says Caudle has so many assests. "Neil is great at getting rid of the football and rarely gets sacked. He has the ability to feel the rush and get away. Neil is a quiet leader, but he is certainly the leader of our football team", Coach Dilorenzo said. Caudle has several offers on the table including USC, Auburn, Clemson, Alabama, Louisville and Michigan. Many other schools have been in contact such as, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Florida State, Miami, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Maryland and North Carolina. Caudle currently does not have a favorite according to Coach Dilorenzo, and the only camp he is attending this summer is the Elite 11 Camp in California, which will take place in July.

Clemson And USC Looking At Georgia DB
By Matthew Pitts
Baldwin County DB Carson Hill (5-10 175) of Milledgeville, Georgia just recently wrapped up a solid spring practice. Hill is the younger brother of Leroy Hill who played his college football days at Clemson as a LB. Baldwin County football coach Jesse Hicks says the best way to describe Hill is by his nickname, which was given to him by his teammates. "We call him Mr. Big Play around here", said Coach Hicks. Coach Hicks went on to say, "Carson is always around the football and is a heck of a tackler". Coach Hicks added that Hill is the captain of the football team and every coach should want a player like him. Hill, who is very strong for his size, bench presses 300 pounds and squats 405 pounds. Hill has three offers currently and they are, Georgia Tech, Alabama and Southern Miss. Hill is also drawing interest from Clemson, North Carolina, Georgia, USC, Florida, Auburn, LSU, Kentucky, N.C. State, Maryland and Penn State. Hill is only attending one camp this summer and that will be at Georgia Tech. He does not have a favorite.

USC And Clemson Interested In White Knoll DL
By Matthew Pitts
White Knoll DL David Williams (6-3 230) is heading into summer after completing an excellent junior season and just recently wrapping up spring practice. Last season, Williams led White Knoll with 78 tackles, 9 sacks and 28 QB hurries. White Knoll Head Football Coach Mark Cagle says he will be surprised if Williams does not play at the next level. "David has a tremendous motor and is great coming off the edge", said Coach Cagle. Coach Cagle went on to say that Williams could still add between 30 and 40 pounds to his frame, which should help him at the next level of play. Williams is just as aggressive in the weightroom as he is on the football field. Williams currently bench presses 385 pounds, squats 525 pounds and had a 32-inch vertical leap at the NIKE Combine in Atlanta, Georgia last month. Williams has no official offers at this point, but according to Coach Cagle, both USC and Clemson are in contact along with Maryland, West Virginia, Liberty, Coastal Carolina and The Citadel. Williams is wide open right now and has no plans for a decision in the near future. Williams will be attending summer camp sessions at Maryland, West Virginia and USC.

Neo,

You have been asked what your sources are saying about Tebow and although you haven't confirmed anything, you seem to be confident. Do you have any word on Percy Harvin? It would be great to land a top QB like Tebow or Mustain and get a WR like Harvin. This would be 2 great players to build a class around. I wonder if we stand a chance of getting early commitments?

Rawls Getting Ready For USC Camp
Charlotte Christian QB Kelly Rawls (6-3 190) is preparing for his tour of summer camps, beginning this weekend as he makes his way to East Carolina for their one day camp session. Rawls will then travel down to a three day camp session at USC next weekend followed by a three day camp at North Carolina the following week.

USC Interested In North Carolina TE
By Haley Munson
West Charlotte TE Yameen Thomas (6-2 220) of Charlotte, North Carolina is heading into the summer after wrapping up a good spring. Thomas has not yet been offered, but has received interest from several schools including USC, North Carolina, N.C. State, Wake Forest, Duke, Maryland, Kentucky, Louisville, Tennessee, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. West Charlotte Head Coach Pete Gilchrist says Thomas should be getting a lot of offers before the season begins. "Yameen's biggest asset is his quickness off the ball and he has great range. He also plays DE for us and is being recruited at both positions", said Coach Gilchrist. Coach Gilchrist went on to say that Thomas will be attending summer camps at Tennessee, USC, North Carolina and Virginia Tech. Thomas currently does not have any favorites.

USC Offers Major Florida Talent
By Phil Kornblut
USC has jumped into the fight for highly regarded DL Corey Hobbs (6-5 310) of Oviedo, FL. "He got a late offer from South Carolina sometime last week," Hobb's mother said Wednesday night. "It's something to look at. Spurrier, of course, who wouldn't be interested." Right now Hobbs favors Florida. This week he and his father are making unofficial visits to several schools of interest. They are checking out Florida State, LSU, Alabama, Georgia and Florida. All of those have offered along with Southern Cal, Oklahoma, Duke, Stanford, Louisville, Georgia Tech and others. Hobbs father played football at North Carolina in the early seventies. Last season Hobbs missed several games with a broken foot. He still managed 64 tackles with 9 for loss in four games.

Tigers Lead For Kicker
By Phil Kornblut
PK Clay Baldwin (5-11 180) of Greenwood said Wednesday night he currently favors Clemson over LSU, USC, NC State and Georgia Tech. He's not been offered but he's getting serious interest from the schools. He will attend camp at LSU this weekend. He will attend USC's camp next weekend and Clemson's camp the following week. Baldwin said Clemson told him he's one of their top prospects. And he said USC told him they're not sure they'll recruit a kicker but would like him as a punter. Last season Baldwin was 6-8 on field goals with a long of 47 yards and he averaged 36 yards per punt.

Prochak Set For Camps
By Phil Kornblut
After impressing scouts at the Nike combine in Athens, GA last month, QB Nick Prochak (6-3 212) of Spartanburg gets the chance this month to show off his skills again in a more personal setting. He's about to embark on about a month of on campus camps where recruiters can grade his every move. Prochak is gonig to Maryland this weekend, USC next weekend and Clemson the weekend after that. He will go to Georgia in July. He has not been offered but he's getting solid interest from those schools along with Vanderbilt and Furman. Prochak said he has talked several time with Clemson recruiter David Blackwell and he feels Clemson is close to offering. He lists USC, Clemson and Georgia as his three favorites right now.

I don't think you have much of a chance at Harvin. He seems to be leaning towards FSU.

I don't know about Tebow but I think he goes to Michigan, Florida, or Bama.

Rivals radio had a good interview with Tebow. They touched on some different schools, but he didn't seem to have a leader. He talked about Michigan sending QB's to the pros and their coach. They mentioned that South Carolina would give him early playing time. He said he knows he will have to compete anywhere and wants that, but it's easier going to a school that doesn't have 4 All Americans in front of you. South Carolina seems to be in his top 8-10 and that's as far as he has sort of narrowed his list down to.

Apreciate your respones but...you didn't give your prediction on the 2005 Gamecock football team. Strengths weaknesses?

I say 9-3
(8 regular season wins and one bowl win)

Strengths:
WR, RB, LB, Secondary Our present core of WR [Newton, Whiteside, Rice] plus the freshman soon to come makes this a force to be reckoned with. The RB [Dacus and Boyd] plus new recruits [especially Wallace becuase he was my pick for hidden gem of the year]. LB is ruff, nasty, and hunting for blood. The present bunch plus the probably Walker and Sapp will make for some headhunters that many will fear, just ask the GA running back who got lit up and was spitting up blood (he ended up with a brused lung) and Tennesses Brent Schaffer (broken collar bone). And finally the secondary. These guys headlined by Freshman all-American and 2005 pre-season all-American Ko Simpson will be the best secondary in the nation. Who can mess with the tadem of Simpson, Hampton, Joseph, and Bennett. The answer; NO ONE.

Weaknesses:
QB, OL, PK QB could be fixed after the summer (personally I believe our present QBs have the talent but they seem to have some head games they need to lose quickly. The OL is horrible. Besides Goddard and Levy the inexperience should make trouble for the running game and passing game all year long. The PK could be fixed by incoming freshman kicker but who knows. Josh Brown was supposed to be the savior of our kicking game but it is still a thorn in the gamecocks side.

Pickem:
DL The DL has very good positives. Plenty of experience and some very talented freshman coming in to either start or fill in the holes. But last year the 4 man front failed to establish the pressure it was supposed to. This is a wait and see.

(8 regular season wins and one bowl win)

I agree with that prediction. Even with our one-sided offense last year, we managed to get 6 wins and were a hair away from 8.

Strengths:
WR - Newton, Rice, Whiteside, Thomas and Murdock
This is going to probably be one of the most talented group of WR's in the SEC. Thomas' and Murdock's 4.3-4.4 speed will make them a very dangerous deep threat over time. The sure hands of Newton and Whiteside will definitely keep the CB's in check and don't forget about Rice's 34 inch vertical leap. That's not taking into consideration that he's 6-5.

TB - Turman, Ashcraft, Boyd and Wallace
This group is not a bad one at all. With so many highly recruited TB's on USC's roster, they can keep fresh legs on the field 100% of the time. Expect early playing time from Wallace. He's a typical scat-back with the breakaway speed.

DL - The DL is going to be a killer this year. Enuff said.

Secondary - Simpson, Joseph and Bennett
This IS the best secondary in the SEC hands down. Bennett and Simpson led the SEC last year in INT's and with the return of the highly rated Jonathan Joseph, expect VERY good things from these players in a short period of time.

LB - West, Hurley and Sapp
They're hungry! If I were the opposing team, I would fear LB Mike West more than anyone. At 6-3/215 lbs, he runs the 40 in 4.38. Talk about flying to the ball? Sheesh!

Weaknesses:
QB - QB could be a serious problem if someone doesn't step up. I see Antonio Heffner starting with the freshmen (Beecher/Thompson) playing clean-up. Heffner is going to have his growing pains, but I think he's the most viable option at QB other than the freshmen. Blake Mitchell just doesn't have the dedication or maturity for the job.

OL - The OL is so-so at best. It's a progressive thing. I see the OL having a rough time at first, but as with all teams, they will begin to "Gel" with due time. What's going to hurt us is depth on the O-Line. Most of the players recruited are HUGE, but they were recruited mainly for a run-based offense and are quite slow. The largest player on the O-Line weighs roughly 350+ pounds. OUCH!

PK - The PK position really doesn't scare me, but it could be viewed as a weakness due to inexperience. In 2005 USC signed the #4 ranked kicker in the country by the name of Ryan Succop. This kid is for real. While playing in Hickory, NC he averaged 97% of his field goals and kicked a 61 yarder while playing an away game. He's got the leg, but can he make the cut? Only time will tell, but I think he'll be fine in a year or so.

Players To Watch:
WR OJ Murdock
WR Sidney Rice
LB Mike West
OL Jabari Levey
TE Jonathan Hannah
LB Ricardo Hurley
DE Shea McKeen

Sapp Names Four Favorites
By Phil Kornblut
DE Ricky Sapp (6-5 220) of Bamberg-Ehrardt has narrowed his list from ten to a temporary "final four". Sapp said Sunday afternoon the four are Clemson, Georgia, Florida State and NC State with no individual favorite right now. "I've just gotten to know those coaches a whole lot better," Sapp said. "I was just comfortable with those four schools." While Sapp has a definite favorite four right now, he's not prepared to slam the door shut on the rest of the schools. "It could open back up at any time," he said. "I don't think this will be my last final four." Sapp does not have any plans for summer camp at this time.

Finally someone agrees with me. I believe the Heffner is the best QB we've got this year. He is very athletic and can escape the pass rush if the occasion calls for it. Mitchell had the tools in high school but my guess is he was like many other high school athletes with steller ability it came easy to them so they didn't have to work for it. But in college he is surronded by other people with equal or greater athletic ability and he is no longer the shoo in to start or be the star. OOps, guess the real world is calling.

Also glad to see that you also think Wallace is something special. We got lucky so many other schools passed up on someone I think will be kinda like another smaller player who was passed up by other schools but became a cornerstone- Rashad Faison. 5-11 200 pounds of pure man eater.

By Matthew Pitts
Richland Northeast LB Rodney Paulk (6-0 195) recently picked up two new offers to go along with his lone offer from East Carolina. "Virginia Tech and North Carolina have both offered me now", said Paulk. That brings Paulk's offer list to a total of three. Floridian Likes USC
By Phil Kornblut
A strong performance in a spring practice against his touted teammate OT Siever Brown earned DE Ian Evans (6-3 240) of Clearwater, FL a second look from USC. Evans said Gamecock recruiter David Reaves had not been showing that much interest until he saw his work in that practice. Since then the interest from USC has increased though Reaves did not call him in May. Evans ranks the Gamecocks and Pittsburgh at the top of his list. USC because of Steve Spurrier and the Panthers because he's from Pittsburgh. He also likes Southern Miss and Ohio State. He's also getting interest from Rutgers and Central Florida. He attended Rutgers camp last week and is going to Central Florida, Ohio State and Pittsburgh camps. He feels Rutgers, Pittsburgh and Southern Miss are close to offering. Last season Evans had 50 tackles and 5 sacks.

Terps Check Out Prochak
By Phil Kornblut
Spartanburg QB Nick Prochak (6-3 212) attended Maryland's camp last weekend and thinks he showed the Terps a thing or two. "I made a good showing," he said. "I was pretty pleased with the way I performed. I jumped 32.5 inches, up from the Nike camp." Prochak said the Terps didn't have much information on him and he's sending more film. "I think I made myself known to the quarterbacks coach, Coach Taafe," he said. Prochak will attend USC's camp this weekend. He will go to Clemson June 17th and Vanderbilt on the 18th. He will go to Georgia the first weekend in July. Prochak said USC is a slight leader over Clemson and Georgia. He has not yet been offered.

USC & Clemson Like Florida RB
By Matthew Pitts
Madison County RB Desmond Gee (5-9 170) of Madison, Florida is one of the fastest RB prospects in the sunshine state. Madison County Head Football Coach Frankie Carroll says Gee is not your average guy. "Desmond has god given ability that just can't be coached. I have never seen him get knocked backwards. The best thing about Desmond though is, he is a greater kid off the field than he is a player on the field", said Coach Carroll. Gee recently lost his mother and lives with Coach Carroll because his grandmother is not able to take care of him and his father lives in Las Vegas. Gee had an excellent junior season racking up 2,215 yards and 34 touchdowns on the ground, and he also had 530 yards receiving. "He just runs hard every play and has a pretty good set of hands as well", said Coach Carroll. Coach Carroll went on to say that Gee has a chance to break the Florida state high school record for most career touchdowns and a lot of schools have been in contact with the speed killer. Gee has offers from East Carolina, Middle Tennessee State, Indiana, Illinois, Southern Miss, USC and South Florida. Just about every school has been in contact with Gee including Clemson, Texas, Florida State, Florida, Miami, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Southern Cal and LSU. Coach Carroll confirmed that Gee will be heading up to Minnesota's football camp this weekend, and that he hopes to make it to USC, Clemson and Southern Cal before the summer is over. Gee currently does not have any favorites.

Drayton Prepares To Go Camping
By Matthew Pitts
Lakeside DB Chris Drayton (6-2 200) of Evans, Georgia recently wrapped up a solid spring practice. Now he is getting ready to go camping. Drayton confirmed that he will be heading to Auburn this weekend for a one day camp, and then he will make his way to Georgia Tech next weekend for a three day camp session. Drayton currently has offers from Kentucky and Louisville. Drayton has also drawn interest from USC, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Florida, Iowa, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and North Carolina. Drayton believes he will have two more offers once he has gone camping. "I feel like if I go to both these camps and perform like I know how to, I will get offered by both", said Drayton. Drayton had a solid junior season with 84 total tackles and 4 interceptions. Drayton says he currently does not have a favorite, but that could change before the season starts.

I meant to ask this earlier but I keep forgeting. I read in "The State" that all 27 recruits are going to qualify with 2 having to be greyshirted. Doesn't that mean that those 2 will go against next years total? Also I know you said it before Neo, but I am to lazy to look for it in earlier posts and your opinion might have changed, what 2 boys are going to be greyshirted?

I would say Brent Davis, along with either Jariel King, Jared Cook, or JeanPierre, but it is anyone's guess right now.

I agree with Brent Davis but I also think it could be Belcher and Yvan Bang. Spurrier repeatly said he recruited Bang just to run specail teams. Someone that could easily be greyshirted. I think Jeanuppire and King play line so they won't be greyshirted due to desperate need there and Cook has the same thing going for him at the WR position. But you might be right.

By Matthew Pitts

He missed the final games of the season with an arm injury. USC was one of the schools to scout him in the spring. USC & Clemson Among Huge Offer List For Florida OL
By Matthew Pitts
Berkely Prep in Tampa, Florida has been a very popular place this past spring for college coaches, and that is because of OL Jim Barrie (6-5 310). Barrie is one of the most sought after OL in the sunshine state this year. When asked to describe himself as a player, Barrie says there are few things that come to mind. "I consider myself a real aggressive player and I have very good balance when coming off the snap. I always work hard and really love the game", said Barrie. Barrie had an excellent junior season as he graded out about 90 percent every game. "I graded out right at 90 percent every game last season and had a lot of pancake blocks", said Barrie. Barrie said that just about every school he could think of came by this past spring. Barrie has 23 total offers at this point including USC, Clemson, Oklahoma, Florida State, Pittsburg, Nebraska, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Miami, LSU, Texas, Michigan and Tennessee. Barrie has also received interest from about 50 schools including Southern Cal, UCLA, Arizona, Texas Tech, Kansas State, Ohio State, Penn State and Virginia Tech. Barrie went on to say he does not have any favorites at this point and he probably won't be taking any camp trips this summer, but does want to try and make an unofficial visit to both USC and Clemson along with Florida and Tennessee.

Salahudin has also drawn interest from Tennessee, Auburn, Duke, Ohio State, USC, Virginia Tech and Kentucky. Salahudin recently missed out on a particular camp session that he really wanted to be at. "I missed the camp down in Miami and I really hate that because I wanted them to get a chance to see me", said Salahudin. Salahudin also confirmed that he will be traveling with his team up to Clemson for a 7 on 7 camp session next weekend. Salahudin says he currently does not have a favorite, but he would like to have a top five at the end of summer.

Camp Doubleheader For Prochak
Spartanburg QB Nick Prochak (6-3 212) had a busy weekend with appearances at USC and Vanderbilt camps. Prochak was at USC Saturday and Vandy Sunday. "I did well," he said of his two outings. Cramer Has Good Time At USC Camp
By Matthew Pitts
Summerville QB Justin Cramer (6-2 190) was in attendance at USC's one day camp session last week. Cramer, who transferred to Summerville High School from West Ashley this past spring says things went pretty good at the camp session. "Overall I would have to say thing went really well at camp. Coach Spurrier worked very closely with all of the QB's there. I feel like I really improved a lot in that short amount of time", said Cramer. Cramer still has not received an offer yet. Cramer also confirmed that he will be trying to attend camps at Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Furman and Western Carolina before the summer is over. Cramer currently does not have a favorite, but says whoever is first to offer will surely have the upper hand on him.

I think that was just hot heads talking about UF. His father was upset because Meyer allegedly dropped a few F-bombs during their meeting and they are a fairly religious family. I would take USC and UF out of the mix right now, especially considering Tebow made a trip to Clemson last weekend and didn't even stop in to see the city of Columbia as he passed by on his way home.

If the decision had to be made today, it would be Bama for Tebow IMO.

I have heard the rumor about Meyer cussing too much and the Tebows did not like it.

I would have to agree with Neo and say his choice would be Michigan right now.

Spurrier Watches Alabama QB
QB Steven Ensminger (6-3 197) of Opelika, AL was one of the prospects at USC's camp last week. Ensminger, the son of current Auburn assistant and former Clemson assistant Steve Ensminger, was at USC Saturday. He then went to camp at Auburn Sunday. Ensminger has offers from Miami, Auburn and Louisiana Tech. He's also getting interest from USC and LSU. "They don't want to offer quarterbacks early," Ensminger said he was told by USC. "They want to wait until the season. I understand that. They said they would keep in touch with me. They said they liked me." Obviously, Auburn is strong with Ensminger but he said he'd keep his options open. He does plan to visit Miami. Last season Ensminger completed 64% of his pass attempts with 13 going for touchdowns.

USC & Clemson Interested In Georgia DL
By Matthew Pitts
Peach County DL Samuel Chester (6-4 275) of Fort Valley, Georgia is one of many DL prospects in the peach state this year. Chester had a very productive junior season while leading his team in total tackles. Peach County Head Coach Rance Gillespie says Chester is a very big kid. "Samuel is a big 275 pound kid. He has a lot of athletic ability and plays aggressive all the time, but he needs to work on his fundamentals a little more", said Coach Gillespie. Chester has had just about every school in the south in contact with him, but he has no offers at this time. "Yeah a lot of schools are waiting to see if he will qualify and that is pretty much the reason why he doesn not have a lot of offers on the table at this point", said Coach Gillespie. Chester currently has no favorites.

Tebow Enjoys Visit To Clemson
By Matthew Pitts
Nease QB Tim Tebow (6-3 225) of St. Augustine, Florida took an unofficial visit to Clemson last weekend and says he had a good time in Death Valley. "I had a very nice visit at Clemson and got to spend some time with Coach Bowden. Everyone was very friendly up there", said Tebow. Tebow, who is one of the most sought after recruits in the entire nation for the class of 2006 has almost 70 scholarship offers including Clemson, Florida, Michigan, Louisville, Florida State, Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama, Maryland, USC, Illinois, Southern Cal and Texas. Tebow says he is still open to everyone at this point and that is pretty much where things will stand for the duration of the summer. Tebow also confirmed that he will definitely not be attending any more camps this summer, and that he will probably not be taking any more visits this summer as well. Next month Tebow will be traveling to the Phillipines again to join his father doing missionary work. "This will be my third time going there. I always enjoy it when I am out there and it good to get away sometimes. My dad has been doing this for about 20 years now", said Tebow. As a junior, Tebow broke the Florida total offense record by rushing for 26 touchdowns, throwing for 46 touchdowns, rushing for 1500 yards and throwing for 4800 yards.

Florida WR Likes USC
By Matthew Pitts
South Sumter WR Carlos Everett (6-1 180) of Bushnell, Florida is yet another WR from the sunshine state that has all the tools major football programs are looking for. Everett has had a solid career thus far at South Sumter hauling in 60 passes for 1,054 yards. Everett has also had 12 touchdown receptions and two kickoff returns for touchdowns. South Sumter Head Football Coach Inman Sherman says Everett is the best that has ever come out of Bushnell at his position. "Carlos is an extremely talented athlete and he always plays with a lot of intensity and motivation. He is the captain of our team and he is just a great kid in the community and at school", said Coach Sherman. Coach Sherman also said that Everett is really interested in a particular school in the palmetto state. "Carlos is really interested in USC with Spurrier being up there now. He knows all of the success his WR's had at Florida and he really likes that", said Coach Sherman. Everett also attended the NIKE Combine in Miami, Florida where he ran a 40-yard dash in 4.51 seconds on a laser timer. Everett just recently returned home from a camp session at Florida where everything went very well according to Coach Sherman. Everett's older brother, Earl Everett is currently playing LB for the Gators. Everett has three offers on the table at this point from Marshall, N.C. State and Bowling Green. USC, Miami, Clemson, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Troy and West Virginia have all been in contact. Everett does not plan on attending any other camps this summer, but would like to make an unofficial to USC before the season if he has time. He currently does not have a favorite.

Yep, I believe you are correct. That's ok, Tech is going to have a hell of a D again this year, but if Ball falters as usual, going to be just another usual 6-5 7-4 year for the Jackets. Go ahead and bring them boys to Carolina!! :)

USC Moves To Lead With OL
By Phil Kornblut
USC has taken a strong lead for OL Garrett Anderson (6-4 270) of Dutch Fork. Anderson was offered by the Gamecocks last week after attending their camp. "That's my home team, that's the one I'd really like to go to," Anderson said. "I'm looking really heavy towards them. But I want to look at the other offers." Anderson also has an offer from West Virginia and is there this week with his team for a camp. He will go to Clemson's camp Friday and will camp in July at Virginia Tech and possibly Auburn.

Florida OL Has USC In Final Two
By Phil Kornblut
OL Kevin Young (6-5 317) of Clearwater, FL says USC and Florida State are his two finalists from more than 20 offers including Central Florida, Connecticut, Houston, Louisville, NC State and San Diego State. "I attended a camp at South Carolina a few weeks ago and really liked it," Young told the St. Petersburg Times. "I'll probably go back to FSU this summer. But I probably won't decide anything until late fall."

Florida DL Receiving Interest From USC & Clemson
By Matthew Pitts
Godby High School is home to yet another DL prospect from the sunshine state. DL Kareem Cromwell (6-5 300) of Tallahassee, Florida is a big time prospect and according to his coach, Shelton Crews, his best days are ahead of him. "Kareem is a very rawl player, but once he realizes his true potential he will be a very good player at the next level", said Coach Crews. When asked what Cromwell's number one asset was, Coach Crews says, "the biggest thing is that he is very coachable and he also has a huge arm spand." Cromwell had an impressive junior season on the defensive side of the football racking up 59 total tackles and 5 sacks. Cromwell also played strong tackle on the offensive side of the football for Godby where he consistently graded out in the upper 80's. Cromwell has a total of eight offers right now and they are, Louisville, Illinois, Ole Miss, Iowa State, Auburn, Nebraska, North Carolina and Marshall. Cromwell is also hearing from USC, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Clemson, N.C. State, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Florida and LSU.
