A perfect 3-0 record for my Games of Interest and might I add pretty accurate analysis as well.
I did say South Carolina would have a hard time with Troy St., but they did pull it out. Saw the game on ESPN Gameplan, Troy St.'s offense looked like South Carolina's offense did against UGA. South Carolina impressed me with their ability to run the ball without Demetrius Summers. I was also impressed by South Carolina's balance on offense, 192 passing and 133 rushing. As for Troy St., it's hard to score points when you only run 38 offensive plays, 21 of which were pass plays for only 109 yards. The 17 rushing plays accumlated 98 yards, almost as much as the pass in fewer plays. Maybe if Troy would have committed to the run a little more, they could have opened their offense some. Compare that to the 62 offensive play performance of the win over Missouri where Troy ran the ball 41 times and passed only 21 times. Come on coaches, stick with what works. We all know the run opens up the pass. Troy St. played a valiant game, but my take on it is the coaching staff lost that game for Troy St. Congrats to South Carolina on taking care of business. Syvelle Newton looks like he is coming along well. Maybe expect a QB change if he continues to play this way. In the immortal words of Lou Holtz, " Whatever brings the ship in boys " . Syvelle looks like he could be the answer to bringing the ship in.
I look forward to next week. I will be studying the upcoming games intensively throughout the week. I will make my predictions for Games of Interest on Thursday. Until then.
