David Cutcliffe just cannot stand success. The Rebels are moving the ball and playing very good with ETHAN FLATT at quarterback... and what does the DUMB@SS Cutcliffe do?

He put Michael Spurlock into the game and blows the MO... Vandy comes to life and now leads the Rebels 16-10 at the half.

If there is a worse coach in college football today... I don't want to ever watch his team play!!!!

I must admit that it seems Cut has gone back to his pre Eli ways of coaching. We saw no vertical passing today. The little 2 yd hitch routes aren't going to work against SEC defenses. Someone needs to explain to him that you can't save your timeouts. Before the half he let's a whole 25 second clock run out instead of calling a TO and setting up a play to get into FG range. We look horrible this year. I left with 2minutes to go in the 3rd Quarter today because I couldn't stomack any more of that crap.
As far as the QB situation goes I hate it because I like M.Spurlock but he's lost all confidence and isn't showing any signs of getting out of it. Flatt shows poise and confidence and has led the team nicely despite Cut's play calling. Maybe they should put Spurlock at a slot back and throw him the ball. He run's a 4.3 40 so put him out there and let him catch the ball.

Hey Bent,

I'm sure you're happy with the "W" even though you may still have doubts about Cutcliffe's methods.

I'd rather be questioning Saban's coaching decisions with a "W" on the board from yesterday. This may sound familiar, I think he may have pulled Randall too early to put Russel in. Randall moved the team downfield very well in that first drive and then we switch QB's. I would have kept Randall in at least another series. :(

But this game was as close as the score. Look at the team stats:

If you add up the differences in yards of Total Net Offense, Penalties, Punts, Returns and Sacks they equal a big ZERO. Auburn did what they had to do to win. They kept LSU out of the end zone in the second half and got the TD they needed. And an extra point by the grace of the officiating gods.

I watched the Miss/Vandy game and being a USC fan, Cutcliffe had me scratching my head at times. Maybe a few of the Ole Miss fans here can educate me. Heres my question: "Why do you pull Flatt from the game only to put Spurlock in and cause Vanderbilt to lead at the half?" I thought that Flatt had his groove going until Mr. Cutcliffe decided to put Spurlock in. To me, ((Not a Ole Miss Fan)) being completely honest and un-biased, I think that Ole Miss should stick with Flatt. I think Spurlock is not the type of QB that is needed for success and his playing ability just doesn't excite me at all.

It seems like Spurlock has the warmth of a snow-pea.
Flatt makes Ben Stein look like Mick Jagger.

Why in the world would you put Spurlock in? Man. See, Cutcliffe wants Spurlock to play so bad it's killing him. He thinks that if he puts Flatt in for a few series then it will spur Spurlock on to greatness. Not gonna happen! Cutcliffe, go back to your Eli gameplan. Flatt can pull it off. Maybe not as effectively, but he can get it done and win some games.

And I'm tired of hearing people say that they feel sorry for Spurlock and that he had such high demands on him following Eli. He wanted the job and he had his shot at it. After that Memphis game, all expectations were gone. He was free to do what he could against Bama and prove himself without any pressure. He couldn't do it. Flatt got us our only score and kept us from being shutout. Flatt got us a win against Vandy. Flatt is the man. Leave him in and don't disrupt his game.

Oxford,

I agree with you to a point. Mr. Cutcliffe may be trying to spur Spurlock into playing but as the old saying goes: "You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink." When should Mr. Cutcliffe stop and understand that Spurlock is not the answer. Flatt made a few errors against Vanderbilt but, he showed great poise and maturity in that game. He engineered many drives and kept Ole Miss in that game.

Pertaining to Spurlock, I do NOT feel sorry for him. Welcome to the SEC. This is the most competitive conference in the country and not everyone is SEC-material. Some people have it, most don't. He (Spurlock) had his opportunity to show what he had to offer and it just isn't enough to be a starter here. Spurlock knew that Manning's shoes were going to be big to fill, but he got his shot and didn't/couldn't do it. This is not an Ole Miss bash session, just a casual observation of a QB dilemma.

You are 100% right. For now, Flatt is our best answer.
