The 2004 season will mark the beginning of a 5-1-2 schedule format. The 5-1-2 format allows for each school to play all five of its division opponents along with one permanent and two rotating non-division opponents each year. It ensures an institution will play every conference member four times during a 10-year period and that each team will make two visits to every SEC stadium during the 10-year period.

The old format used was based on a 5-2-1 schedule format. Schools played all five of its divisional opponents along with two permanent and one rotating non-division opponent each year.

Does anyone know if the permanent opp. can be changed? why is USC's permanent opp. Ark?

RW....Because Arkansas and SC were the last two teams that entered the SEC, so they declared them the permanent opponent to play out of division every year.

I figured that since they both entered in 1992 but can it be changed and why are the other ones like they are?

I hope they pick Ole Miss at number 117.

We always do bad when picked high, and usually do good when picked low.

Speaking of Notre Dame, I think that if Mr. Tyrone Willingham doesn't win this year, he is on his way out. Notre Dame is NOT going to wait years just for another "Bob Davie" to show his face.

I don't know why people make such a big deal of Ole Miss playing Vandy every year. It's usually all we can do to beat them, for some strange reason.

I wish we could play Florida every year.

Well...it's like the old belief if you play the top teams, you will get better with experience. Look at all of the whippings that USC got from Tennessee and Florida and for the past few years, USC has been closing the gap a little every year.

Then look at all the whippings Vandy's got from Tennessee, Florida, and Georgia every year. They're trying to turn it around, but that argument goes both ways.
