Looks like UK finallly landed a stellar basketball recruiting class under Tubby- Rondo, Crawford, Bradley and Sparks were a pretty decent class--adding Randolph Morris might put us #1 on most lists. We'll see if Tubby is ready to handle this many hot prospects at once (or can they handle him?)....

How do Cat fans feel about Tubby's other son not considering UK (or so I have heard)? Pretty sure that Ole Miss is one of his schools. Seems that Seth took a lot of heat being the coaches's son. I always thought that he was a pretty good player.

Most will be happy with the decision. It's not really Tubby's fault for playing Saul (not Seth). He probably was our best option at the time, but the fact that Cliff Hawkins was behind him (and fairly highly recruited) left a bad taste in some hardliners' mouths. The poor precedent was set, however, years before in the doldrum days of Eddie Sutton ball, when he was playing his son, Sean. Had Sutton not played his son (who wasn't the best guard on the team) the way he did, UK fans would have been less skeptical of Tubby playing Saul. While unwarranted, Saul did take a lot of flak from the less polished UK fans (which are far too numerous, I might add), and I think Brian, the youngest Smith, saw that playing at UK would cause him to be a lighting rod in a criticism thunderstorm. It's probably the best decision for him, and for Tubby.

Sorry about the error. The Sutton years seem to be little less than a footnote to me. Maybe to UK fans, too! I am too young to remember A. Rupp, but when I hear UK basketball, I think of Joe B., Rick, and Tubby. Eddie just seems like a distant memory, one that you sort of recall. But I am old enough to remember ole Eddie at UPig and Paul Eels, KATV (Little Rock), just falling all over himself talking about how great Upig basketball was during that time. Man, I am getting old. That was a long time ago.
