South Carolina IF Steve Pearce has been named SEC Baseball Player of the Week, while Florida right-hander Justin Hoyman has been named Pitcher of the Week.

In his first three games as a member of the South Carolina baseball team, Pearce batted .800 (8-for-10) with three home runs, six runs scored and eight RBI in a weekend sweep of Charleston Southern.
Pearce went 5-for-6 in Saturday's 38-0 win with two HR including a grand slam and seven RBI. In Sunday's 3-0 win vs. the Bucs, Pearce went 3-for-3 with a game-winning homer.
Pearce's five hits on Saturday are the most hits in a game by a USC player this season and was the most hits since Landon Powell collected five hits vs. Georgia on May 17, 2003.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Hoyman pitched seven innings of shutout ball against the No. 2 ranked Miami Hurricanes as he improved to 2-0 on the season.
The junior right hander gave up just one hit and had seven strikeouts with two walks. From the end of the third inning until he walked a batter in the seventh he retired 12 straight hitters. Miami came into the game ranked in the top three in all the major polls after returning its entire lineup from a year ago when they advanced to the College World Series.
Hoyman threw 101 pitches (64 strikes) in the game and allowed just a single to the second hitter Adam Ricks. Through two games this season Hoyman has thrown 14.0 consecutive innings of shutout ball and has given up just four hits with three walks and 14 strikeouts.
