TUSCALOOSA | University of Alabama men’s basketball forward Alonzo Gee has joined two teammates in making himself available for this summer’s National Basketball Association Draft.
The 6-foot-6 forward from Riviera Beach, Fla., met the NBA’s April 27 deadline to test his status for the draft. He has not hired an agent and can retain his senior year of eligibility at UA by withdrawing from the process with written notice to the NBA by 5 p.m. ET on June 16.
Gee averaged 14.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game last season as a junior. Gee is joining UA teammates Richard Hendrix and Ronald Steele, who also declared themselves available for the NBA Draft in order to explore their standing with the pro league.
“Alonzo came to me and expressed his desire to explore the process, and I will assist him in any way possible,” UA head coach Mark Gottfried said.

that makes 3 juniors that declared. while they can come back for their senior years since they didn't sign with an agent, it speaks volumes to the state of our basketball program.

well noone you know how I feel about Gottfried, much like you, but theres no need to panic.....yet
I believe all three of them are coming back, none of them have a chance in hell at 1st round, Hendrix is the only one close
if I were them, had some talent, I'd go that route my junior year too just to get a feel for the process and see where I am in their eyes to get a good bearing for my senior year

according to what i've been hearing, steele will probably not be back. gee and hendrix will probably be back, but still, it just goes to show how bad of shape our program is in right now.

Steele will leave, even if it means playing in Israel.

what are you guys hearing about Steele? Is he just not wanting to risk injury again? Can't imagine their being a rift btwn Ronald and the coaching staff or I don't believe his brother would be coming

There is a rift the size of Rosanne's panties between Steele and Gottfried.

Really? There is a rift. Where did you hear that? Because I don't see it (Literally). I actually have seen them. No rift. This is about if Ronald can go in the 1st. I would think all 3 will be back. Gee is not ready, Hendrix will be late 2nd and Steele has to establish his knee is worth the risk of a draft pick.

In fact 2 different "expert" sites show all 3 being drafted in the 2009 draft because they will go undrafted this year.

I would be mad at Gottfried too if I was Ronald because after all, Gottfried did cost Ronald millions by still playing him when he was injured which led to a more severe injury.

Smoke in the media (Via talk radio) is usually blowing not burning.
