Default Ouch, Anthony Grant's brutal analysis of basketball team
I could go into a deep analysis of the game in an attempt to explain why Alabama didn't look particularly good against Augusta State on Tuesday night. But really, it's easier to just let Coach Grant sum it up...

We've got a ways to go. We've got a team right now that really doesn't understand. They really don't, and we've got to figure some things out. To be honest, I feel like there's too many issues right now to say we can deal with them in the short term. We've got a lot of things we need to address that we've got to change as a basketball team.

Yikes.

Coach Grant also had this to say after the game:
Our basketball team is a team that's undersized and under-skilled. The way we're going to win games is to play hard, to play together, to play with a purpose and play with passion, and right now, we really don't understand that as a team. Maybe this is a wake-up call for guys to understand that, at the end of the day, we have a very slim margin of error for us to be successful.

I'd rather have Grant telling it like it is than Gottfried pretending to know what he was doing. You guys have a winner, don't run him out of town.

Grant's frank analysis is further evidence of why he is the right guy for the job. I think this is a great match of coach to program and will prove to be one of the better hires in the offseason.

well, it looks like he got a bit more talent that hes seems to think, but really its prob just a motivational type of deal...sure he wants more talent, but who doesnt. should be good motivation for his team. at least hes realistic though.

I like his response...this team for many years has needed someone to light a fire under them. CAG will make BAMA a winning program in the future!

It's hilarious how similarly Kentucky basketball and Bama football parallel each other, and then Bama basketball and Kentucky football parallel each other. We're like brothers from another mother. Plus, we both like to beat the crap out of the Vols in anything and everything.

I hadn't thought about the Vols being whipping boys for both Kentucky and the Tide. Yeah, you're right about all the similarities between the Wildcats and the Tide. Like I tell folks, Alabama football is not life and death, it's much more important than that.
