okay, this year we've got two 5 star committs in our D.backfield
last year we had 5 star Kirkpatrick..........we'll have an all 5 star DBackfield soon
Five-star athlete Keenan Allen has proved throughout his career that he is a special football player with unique talents, and when he officially became the Crimson Tide's 22nd commitment in the class of 2010 on Saturday, the Rivals100 star decided to pick a special day to let his intentions be known.
"I wanted to announce that I had committed to Alabama to the fans first just to show my appeciation to them. Alabama has the best fans in the world, so I wanted to let them know I was going to play for them for the next four years on a special day like this one just to keep the momentum going," said Allen who stands 6-foot-3, 195 pounds. "I had been thinking for a long time how I would announce my commitment, and I really couldn't pick a better day than this."
Allen's day started bright and early Saturday with an early wake-up call before beginning the trek to Tuscaloosa with his family. Last night, Allen helped Northern Guilford win their first conference championship in school history with a 48-16 win over Western Alamance. Allen returned the opening kickoff 78 yards for a score and added a 49-yard scoring reception.
According to Allen, his decision to attend Alabama had been made for some time and he communicated his intentions to Tide Coach Nick Saban several weeks ago.
"I picked Alabama because that was the program that was going to improve me as a football player and take me to the next level. I have camped at Alabama for two years and got a lot better just by spending a week at their camp. Imagine what being at Alabama full-time will do for me. Coach Saban told me that they want to play me at receiver and line me up on the other side of Julio so teams will be forced to pick someone to double-cover.
"When I committed to Coach Saban, he was so excited that you could feel it over the phone. He was happier than I have ever heard him. He just told me welcome to the Alabama family and that he hoped I was ready to go to work."
Allen picked Alabama over offers from Oregon, Penn State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee among many others.
Allen is the ninth-ranked prospect in the country overall and the number one ranked prospect in the state of North Carolina.

Im not exactly sure exactly where he will play, but I do think he's more suited to play DB. I believe it may be another one of those situations like with BJ where he gets on campus and sees where he's most needed and most comfortable with immediately, then if need be changes positions.
Okay, my "quote" above, was in response to a totally different prospect and I have no idea why it's being applied here because the situation is entirely different. This is an ACTUAL quote from just earlier today:

Keenan Allen has been all-Bama for awhile and there is very little chance that he will even look at anyone else.

Like Sabo said, this has nothing to do with Allen. If you really know your recruiting, he's alot more solid then say...Deyer? He's obviously getting alot of attention from Tennessee late...not that I'm implying it'll mean anything.

This however has alot to do with Deyer's commitment this week. We will always top whatever Auburn does in recruiting and I say that with respect because Deyer is still a great RB and pickup for Auburn. But Nick Saban will always make sure he has the last big name announced in the state.

You have got to be kidding.
First, learn to spell Dyer. The face that you consistently misspell his name brings your knowledge of these recruits into question.
Second, like Allen, Dyer has been sure of Auburn for quite a while now, and was just looking for the right time to announce. I've said it several times, and I will say it again, Dyer's commitment is about as solid as they get. Yes, he will continue to take visits, but he's all Auburn.
As for this statement: "We will always top whatever Auburn does in recruiting and I say that with respect because Deyer is still a great RB and pickup for Auburn. But Nick Saban will always make sure he has the last big name announced in the state. "
You will always top us eh? So I assume that means when one of your commitments decommitted and immediately committed to us, that you were topping us? How about when we took the top in-state WR, were you topping us then? As of this moment, yes you have the last big name announced, but that should change within the course of about a week.
Also, "in the state" ???? you realize he's from NC right? If you were talking about in the state as in against Auburn, my previous points still hold true. We had the "last big name announced in the state" for quite a while there after LaDarius Owens committed. But did I try to claim that we always top what you guys do in recruiting? No. Honestly, I don't care what you guys do in recruiting. I only care about what we are doing, and we are doing quite well.
As for my first post, I was making fun of how Sabowhatever suddenly feels the need to give his opinion on every recruit that there is. It has been especially annoying in the case of Dyer, where he first said that he was all Arkansas, but even when he gives a firm committment to us, he still seems convinced that UT will steal him from us. I wasn't using those same opinions towards Allen, as I believe he's solid to you guys, and has been for a while. As I said, good pickup.
