Absolutely. The problem was the kick was low. Every kick he attempted was low like that. It wouldn't have mattered who was there, all he had to do was stretch his hands out and he would have blocked it.

Even if the ball wasn't blocked, it wasn't gonna be good. If you watch it frame by frame, the ball was pushed way to the left. If was gonna end up in the corner of the student section.

Yes, it is great work. I failed to credit him personally, but I figured the site's name being in clear view was enough.

TUSCALOOSA | Nobody had a better view of Terrence Cody’s game-winning field-goal block Saturday than Julio Jones.

The University of Alabama’s star receiver was soaring high in the air, right behind Cody, and might very well have blocked the kick himself if Cody hadn’t done it.

Jones saw Cody blow up Tennessee lineman Cory Sullins, sending him to the ground sumo-style, and reach out his left hand. He saw the ball bounce off the underside of Cody’s arm.

And Jones had one thought: “Ballgame.”

As in game over, time expired.

Cody, the man-mountain of a defensive lineman for the No. 1 Crimson Tide, blocked two field goals in the fourth quarter to preserve Alabama’s national title hopes and a 12-10 victory over the Volunteers.

With 10:33 left in the game and Alabama up 9-3, Cody got his first block of a Daniel Lincoln attempt, this one from 43 yards and also with the left hand.

Even after Tennessee scored with 2:10 to go following a Mark Ingram fumble and then recovering an onside kick, Cody didn’t think he’d need to block another.

“I was thinking the whole time — at first I didn’t think they was going to get all the way down there, but they made a couple big plays and stuff and I was like, ‘It’s game time,’” Cody said.

The Vols drove as far as the UA 28 and called timeout with 4 seconds to go, sending Lincoln back onto the field for a chance at a 44-yarder to win it.

As he had on the earlier block, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban called for max block — selling out to stop the kick with no regard for the chance of a fake.

“You say, ‘They’re going to kick it, that’s what they need, and we’re going to send all 11 guys to go get it,’” Saban said.

For Cody, that meant one thing: “Field goal, middle push.”

As Cody lined up across from Sullins, an overmatched 6-foot-1, 260-pound senior from Cottonwood, Tenn., who was giving up 4 inches and about 100 pounds, he had an idea what might be going through his adversary’s mind.

“He’s probably thinking, ‘Oh snap’ or ‘Here we go again,’ or ‘Dang, he’s a big guy,’” Cody said. “He was probably thinking a lot of things

“I’d be scared of me, too.”

Cody exploded into Sullins, again blasting him back toward Tennessee’s kicker and holder. Then, for the most important play of his career and maybe the most important of Alabama’s season, Cody trusted blind luck.

“I just reached out and closed my eyes and got it,” Cody said.

Javier Arenas and Kareem Jackson rushed from the outside and collided.

“I blacked out,” Arenas said. “I’m sitting on the ground and I didn’t know if they made it or not. All I saw was crimson jumping, and I’m like, ‘Wow.’

“Before the snap was probably the worst feeling I’ve ever felt in my whole entire life, by far, because of what we did. We put ourselves in that position.”

Of course, the game didn’t actually end with the block. The ball bounced around and was covered by an Alabama player.

Saban still isn’t sure.

“There was a big surge up the middle and I didn’t even see where the ball went,” Saban said. “I was worried about where the ball went and who was going to get the ball and were (the Vols) going to advance it.

“I still haven’t seen it, so I’m assuming that somebody got on it and they still can’t advance it.”

Linebacker Rolando McClain scooped up the ball and immediately went to one knee to down it.

Cody soaked in the glory after a brief television interview. A crimson-clad throng that numbered in the tens of thousands of fans chanted: “Cody, Cody, Cody.”

The player had tears in his eyes as he left the field.

“I was real emotional,” Cody said. “I actually saved the game and made a big play to keep us undefeated and keep us in the race for the national championship.”

haha why is number 4 over there pretending to kick a field goal himself, is he mocking Lincoln?

I can't tell if its Barron or Maze, reason why I just called him number 4.

"Hey Lincoln! You're supposed to do it like this!"
