nice read, but.....

We had a remarkable season this year and the ball bounced our way a lot during the regular season to go 12-0. As much I would enjoy it, I really don't think we go undefeated again, that feat is too hard to accomplish in back to back years in the SEC.

However I do feel we win the west and compete again in the Sugar Bowl to redeem ourselves.

We end the season where we start out ranked #4 or #5, and everyone will be satisfied with another Iron Bowl and Sugar Bowl win

Agreed, Tebow will be gone and our new offensive starters will be experienced.

The Tide ride in 2009 will be a lot rougher, less lucky, and fraught with disappoint with no experienced QB and a restructured OL. About 3rd best in the west, I would say.

The Tiggahs will continue to under-perform under The Hat and fall even further from that "National Championship" season. It will seem like a distant memory whenever Les Miles leaves the bayou.

Oh this isn't the blindingly homer post thread? My bad...

Alabama Bama football 2009 Outlook
Hello all,

This is Robert Matthew Compton, your DFN Sports Alabama Coorespondent. Thanks for all the comments. I should be adding more articles as they develop for football and you will be getting 1-2 articles on basketball a week. When football starts back up, you should get lots of info. Look for the recruiting wrapup after signing day concludes.

Just some info for any doubters out there. Bama OL will still be as dominating in 2009. Even with the loss of Smith, Caldwell and Davis. We have Carpenter, Cardwell, Jones, Barrett and Fluker to take the spots. With Coffee gone, look for Ingram, Upchurch, Richardson, Matchett and Preyear to step up. Julio Jones and Maze are going to have an outsanding year. Some will say how is this with the QB situation. McElroy will not let you down, neither will Star Jackson. McElroy played behind Chase Daniel in high school. When Daniel left, McElroy threw for 56 touchdowns and won the Texas 5A State Championship. They have been with Saban for the last two years, add McElwain for another year, then you have a great offensive scheme. The defense will be even more improved. How many people heard of Brandon Spikes, before his JR year? Only FL fans knew how good he was and will continue to be. Alabama has two of those type LBs, McClain and Hightower. Also, look for a definative answer to the pass defense for 2009, B.J. Scott may move to CB and look for Mark Barron to get more playing time at saftey.

Well enough blabbering about what has not happened yet. Lets look forward to a great year and an exciting recruiting closeout.

We'll be fine.

If Jackson picks up on the offense and Greg McElroy plays steady we will be in the mix and have just as much of a chance to win the West as anyone else maybe more because our defense will be better. I figured the haters would learn to not count us out but ya do whatcha gotta do and we will.

I figue they will lose 4 games this year probly to Ole Miss,LSU,AU and either UT or Ark. Depends on who they play in a Bowl probably the Peach Bowl they will likely be 9-4.
