Tennessee Backup QB Guillon Leaves Team
BREAKING NEWS: Backup quarterback Guillon to leave Crimson Tide

By Cecil Hurt
Sports Editor

TUSCALOOSA | University of Alabama head coach Mike Shula said Tuesday that Crimson Tide senior quarterback Marc Guillon, the backup to starter John Parker Wilson, had decided to leave the UA football team.

Guillon had played in two games this season, Crimson Tide victories over Louisiana-Monroe and Duke. He had thrown two passes, completing both, for 15 yards.

The native of Chico, Cal., began his college career with Miami (Fla.), playing in two games for the Hurricanes in the 2002 season. He transferred to Alabama after that season and sat out 2003 as a redshirt.

He was the backup to Brodie Croyle in the 2004 season and when Croyle suffered a season-ending knee injury in the third game of the year, Guillon became the Tide starter.

In his two starts, losses to Arkansas and South Carolina, Guillon was 15 of 36 passing for 120 yards. He did not play after the South Carolina game due to a lower back injury, according to the UA media guide.

Guillon was the Tide’s No. 3 quarterback behind Croyle and Wilson in 2005, seeing limited action in three games.

Further information on this story will be available in Wednesday’s edition of the Tuscaloosa News, and on tidesports.com

So he finally wussed his way off campus, not just the field.

lol, while what you said is pretty funny, it leaves us without an experienced backup. jimmy barnes has not played to expectations. and i doubt shula will waste his redshirt on mcelroy unless he absolutely has to. and with the way the OL has been "protecting" wilson, we may be in trouble as the heart of our schedule rolls along.
