Florida’s Erving Walker was named the SEC Player of the Week after he averaged 12.0 points, 5.0 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals in leading the Gators to the Legends Classic title in Atlantic City, N.J. Prior to going to the Legends Classic, he tied for the team lead with 13 points against in a win over Florida State. Walker then scored all 12 of his points in the final 6:38, including a clutch three-pointer with 1:55 remaining to help the Gators upset No. 2 Michigan State. He dished out seven assists to just one turnover against the Spartans. After finishing with 11 points and five assists in the championship game against Rutgers, he was named the MVP of the Legends Classic.

Kentucky’s John Wall was named SEC Freshman of the Week after he averaged 19.0 points, 5.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds in leading the Wildcats to the Cancun Challenge championship. Wall was named the tournament MVP after he scored a career-high 23 points in leading Kentucky to a 73-65 overtime victory against Stanford in the finals of the Cancun Challenge. He hit a jumper with :30 left in regulation to tie the score and then knocked down two free throws with 2.4 seconds left to send the game into overtime. |
