The affray charge is not being dropped based on if he does the community service and stays out of trouble. The affray charge was dropped due to lack of evidence. The other charges will be dropped if he does those things. I wouldn't say that's getting off. He resisted arrest non violently (running from police at first but once caught no resist was given). Why he was tasered is unclear and could be the possible reason for the light slap on the wrist because some said it wasn't necessary as he was cooperative. I think that is playing a role in the light "punishment".

Whether he will be suspended wasn't announced (as far as I know). But if the charges are being dropped it doesn't seem like a suspension will be issued.

He's young and stupid and I bet if he had it to do all over again it would have been a different situation but his emotions got the best of him and he reacted as most of us would if someone tried to steal a necklace from around our necks.
The GPD is getting ridiculous. They've always been over-bearing...made me and some friends hanging out in a yard close to BHG Stadium pour out nearly a case of beer...even though we were on private property...threatening us with "public intoxication". I swear these guys must get brownie points for athlete arrests. The prosecutor in this case has stated that, according to the testimonies, he doesn't see where a taser was necessary. And let's not forget about the Gator Pitcher that was arrested a few months back. Cop submits a report saying he was swerving all over the road...however, the dash cam shows a completely different story...not to mention, the cam picks up the arresting officer saying to another officer that he needed to make a DUI arrests for quota and state funding purposes. I don't necessarily think the Gainesville PD is out to get Gator Athletes...but two arrests in less than a year with admittedly bogus charges is too much.
