Sportsgirl, I'm not a resident Vols fan. But I'd like to throw my thoughts into this thread of yourn if I may.
The one thing that stands out in my mind with Tennessee is the way officials treated Johnny Majors while recovering from heart surgery. After the Vols lost three games following Majors' return, he suddenly was asked to resign during the week leading up to Tennessee's game at Memphis State. Fat Phil wasn't any help as Coach Majors was pushed out the door. Some believe that Majors was forced out in order to make room for Fulmer, who had become more popular with a majority of fans following his success as interim coach. A Knoxville News Sentinel story at the time also reported that Fulmer allegedly exchanged 26 telephone calls while Majors was recuperating from heart surgery with then-UT Athletics Board member Bill Johnson, who had played with Majors in the mid-1950s at UT.
That to me put Tennessee in a negative light with fans outside of Knoxville.
That's the worst.
The best has to be... fernandomike getting hooked in the mouth and getting married. Nice to finally have that player off the streets at night so some of the rest of us can get a lap dance at the Nashville déjà vu tiddy bar.
Just my 2¢. Thanks for letting me vent. |
