Nor do I wish the South had been successful in creating a new nation separate from the US.

But it is interesting to see how the world has changed in regarding to areas declaring independence.
Scotland could become an independent nation on Thursday without a single shot fired.

A successful Yes vote in Scotland will reignite similar movements in Quebec and Spain
