Yes, and everyone hated(even at the time) his decision to go all out in Vietnam. It's what ultimately led to him not running for a 2nd term.
But his work in equal rights(granted you could probably credit a lot of that to JFK since he just continued what JFK started, but eh) led to a lot of advances in equality for all in America.
There's positives and negatives for all presidents, though. Even Abraham Lincoln, who if not rated the #1 president of all time by pretty much every publication/poll ever ran on the issue, is at least top 3 in each one, gets hate from some for numerous things.
