First, I think organized religion is a croc. Sorry, just the way I am. Second, my comment about the 501c3 is really geared towards these mega churches. It sickens me to see that pastor in Atlanta solicit donations for a :lanekiffin:ing $65M private jet. And when he didn't get those funds, he uses church money. Here are some numbers for ya regarding this:

The pastor claims he flies around 300 times a year and this is the reason for the need of a private jet. Let's say on average each flight costs $500 round trip. Some trips will cost more; some will cost less. So flying costs annually will run about $150k. Thus pastor could fly commercially, 300 times a year, for 433.333... years before he pays $65M in flight costs. Do you not see how insane this is? The million dollar buildings these churches build? Dudes like Joel Osteen getting rich off spreading the word of God.

For the record, colleges and universities shouldn't get 501c3 exempt status either. Neither should any of the professional sports leagues. The NFL was organized as a NPO for the longest time until recently.

Back to religion, my grandmother is a God fearing woman. She attends church near her home that has about 30-40 members in her congregation. Their pastor does not make much. In fact, he preaches at 2 churches just to make ends meet. It's churches like these that I have respect for. They raise money for the local homeless shelter or humane society. There isn't a required tithe like there is at many mega churches.

When I express my disdain for organized religion, yes I don't believe in it, but the main direction my vitriol is directed at is the direction of these mega churches that seem to be run more like a corporation than a house of God.
religion is the worst thing that happened to Christianity. Bar none.

Slavery was/is wrong....I don't think anyone is arguing that it isn't....I for one am not. All men should be free, that is how God intended it.
I was just saying theres more to it than just the African slaves
