I agree. But it's a long ways from becoming Memphis. The young professionals are a city's life blood and Atlanta still has that. It could be better but it's far from being bad.
Birmingham is trying to do what Chattanooga did. Not sure how that's going
Atlanta is also doing a lot of revitalization work with some of the more impoverished/dilapidated areas. Places like cabbage town, the lower 4th, and other bad areas are becoming good places to live. They also just launched the belt line which is a huge revitalization project.
