Run up tempo offense? How much do you know about this guy? His final four teams played a very slow cautious offense. His last couple teams that ended up getting him fired played fast.

his last year at ucla, he said he was committed to running an up tempo offense.  he averaged 5 more points than he had previously (per some article i cannot recall), but im not sure how much more up tempo that is.  anywho, he said he wished he had run more than he did previously and that he is sold on a faster brand of bball.  it will certainly be interesting to see what he does year on.  in the end, all that matters is wins.  he has proven he can do that.

Why go there?

I just gave my opinion.

It's not a home run hire IMO.

The names I gave are more up and coming and appealing to recruits.  You'll eventually see.

as the hiring of ray exposed, the msu job has tumbled over the death throws of the stansbury era...the job wasnt what it was and we had a serious problem getting interest in the program....we hired rick ray fur fek sake.  we had to overpay a totally unproven assistant to come coach.  this is absolutely a grand slam hire for  US....now if it was kentucky, you have a point, but it goes without saying our programs are in entirely different universes.  we are very fortunate to have legitimate interest from such a decorated coach given our circumstances.

Absolutely. Kentucky has obviously struggled against them all.  Only managed to win by 15ppg instead of 25+.  It's mildly disconcerting.

you never like seeing a former coach go to a conference rival, but that said, good luck to bama if they pick stans.  he has some serious drawbacks, but he is a great recruiter and plays the aau game well.  that aside, bama fans, if you pick stans, prepare for some serious frustration.
