As expected, Tennessee's Justin Hunter is headed to the NFL.

The Vols' junior receiver tweeted out Monday that he had indeed declared early for the draft. His receiving cohort this season at Tennessee, Cordarrelle Patterson, is expected to follow suit, although Patterson hasn't made any statements publicly.

While Hunter is on his way out, Tennessee junior offensive tackle Ja'Wuan James confirmed Monday that he would be returning to school for his senior season.

"I believe in what Coach [Butch] Jones is preaching and what he's about," James told ESPN's Joe Schad.

ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay projects Hunter as the 22nd overall pick in April's NFL draft. Hunter caught 73 passes for 1,083 yards and nine touchdowns this season, but was also plagued by some untimely drops. He was returning from a torn ACL that forced him to miss all but the first three games of the 2011 season.

Patterson, who played just one season at Tennessee after transferring from junior college, is No. 11 overall on ESPN analyst Mel Kiper's latest Big Board of the top 25 draft prospects.

The feeling in and around the Vols' program is that junior quarterback Tyler Bray will also declare early for the draft.

We ill return a SR Oline that is one of the best in the country with James and Fulton both returning. Hunter will be missed but we still have WR talent on the roster. Bray leaving is huge but the right decision for both sides.

That's what I've heard too. That sucks, he's a good talent. He'd of been a huge boon for us this season.

Best to get that kind of attitude off the team rather then it lurk around and cause problems in the future.

I would be shocked if he didnt. Butch doesnt have the emotional investment in him Dooley did and would be better served getting someone in there that want to run his style for a few years.

Hunter didn't give it his all this year. Not very happy with him, but wish him luck. He was a great guy off the field.

One does not simply throw towards Cameron Sutton.

Yeah.... to be fair though, I wonder how much it had to do with him still not being 100% since the injury. Have heard that it can take well over a year to fully recover from that injury.

But smart move by him considering he slipped quite a bit from last season. With a new coach and system coming in, he couldn't afford the risk of slipping again.... not to mention the possibility of re-injuring himself.

I don't see him being any more than just another simple possession receiver in the NFL. But in the right system anything's possible. Good Luck Justin!
Phyllis-But it is a big deal. You almost killed Stanley.
Dwight-Yeah right! I filled him full of butter and sugar for 50 years and forced him not to exercise!

Probably rough 2-3 seasons. Inexperienced QB and no receiving threats won't be good. Then in 2014 they'll lose off the O-line. They'll have to give Jones a pretty long grace period, but I'll be interested to see how much patience the fans have in 3-4 years.
