When the law starts monitoring sectalk somebody is going to jail...
"What he was posting had nothing to do with sports," Soltys said Tuesday. "We closely monitor the message boards and anytime we get a threat, we're alerting law enforcement officials."

Good. In this day and age we cannot take any type of threatening comments lightly. Now, i'm not saying that this young man meant what he said and intended to carry out any plans, but there is no such thing as too careful. ESPN did the right thing in notifying authorities. We all have an obligation to notify authorities when or if we suspect a serious threat.
If this had not been reported and this young man had actually acted on his threats we would all be up in arms against anyone who knew of the posted comments.
These things cannot be ignored.

I've had so many death threats on the internet.
People should take what anyone says on the internet with a grain of salt.

sure we bullshit around on here, but this guy said he was watching kids and wouldn't mind killing a few of them....a few days after the 2nd worst school shooting in U.S. history. And said it would be like the Aurora shootings. Turns out he lived next to an elementary school. So I'm sure he probably was watching kids...and I'm assuming he wouldn't have just posted that if he didn't have those feelings.
Like Bulldog17 said...what if no one had reported it and he had actually done it. Most on here are freaking out going" they can't take our guns!! They should monitor threats better, etc. etc,. 'Murica"
Then when a guy is arrested for saying he's watching kids and wouldn't mind killing some of them, and threatens a mass murder like we saw in Aurora then gets arrested you are on here going "oh nanny state here we come!!"
I'm starting to think some of you just like to bitch about anything officials do.

“We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.”
