Butch doesn't have to bring us back to glory days to stay above Vanderbilt on a consistent basis. Last season is as good as it'll ever get for Vanderbilt. That's not trash talk, it's simply fact. Vanderbilt, even with a coach like Franklin(who I do think is a really good coach), can't do any better than barely finishing as a top 20 recruiting class, and any hope Vanderbilt had of taking over what little talent the state of Tennessee had has been ruined. Butch has already landed 5 of the top 10(including the #1) Tennessee recruits, compared to just two for Vanderbilt(and Vanderbilt's two are #9 and #10).
Derek Dooley may be the worst head coach in SEC history and still pulled in better recruiting classes than Vanderbilt. Again, not trash talk, simply fact.
Vanderbilt doesn't have the facilities, Vanderbilt doesn't have the fanbase, Vanderbilt doesn't have the stadium, Vanderbilt doesn't have the national draw, and Vanderbilt isn't even close to Tennessee as an NFL pipeline, even with the down years Tennessee has had.
If Vanderbilt is to EVER get up to Tennessee's level as a whole, it's going to take a ton of money to pour in to upgrades.
