I didn't say anything about putting Florida ahead of UGA. Or anyone else for that matter.

I just think this is another annoying example of how playing a a close game against the best team somehow neutralizes the rest of the year.
In some people's mind anyway.
Like how UGA deserved a BCS bowl because of this close loss. No.
UGA beat Florida and lost to two other teams of that caliber. Now ranking them No.2 is all but assumed because they played Bama close?
No way.

Georgia is No.2 because there are three 11-1 teams. They beat one and lost to the other.

I never said Florida shouldn't go to a BCS bowl. I think the BCS is bullshit sending a team who didn't play in the SEC championship And lost to the team who did play. I blame the BCS not Florida.

You had your chance to play for the biggest of BCS bowls, had you won I doubt you would be as critical. Here is another way of ranking the top 6 teams, of which is very telling. Of the six SEC top ranked teams,  Florida played 4 of them, they were 3-1 in those games, Alabama played 3 of those teams and was 2-1, LSU played 4 of those teams and was 2-2, Georgia played 3 of the teams, they were 1-2, South Carolina played 3 of them they were 1-2, A&M played 3 of those teams and was also 1-2. It hard to look at one game  or one week and rank the teams. Just my 2 cents worth.

Dude thats exactly what power ranking are. Week to week all the other crap you through into that very long sentence is meaningless.

That is like saying people forget, you are wrong. I understand the context of the ranking but this is not how it works.

That would make it too easy with almost no thought.  Bame won this past week, Georgia lost this past week, everyone else was idle:

1.  Bama
2 through 13.  Everyone Else
14.  Georgia

We can't consider what it took for Georgia to get to the SECCG since that all occured prior to this week.

No one's going to buy those rankings I just posted. Although emphasis is placed on the latest week, you have to consider prior results and performance, which I believe HNB did in his OP.

EDIT:   Now I know I lost that mod nomination from you. :(

You got it right actually. Except no school could jump UGA because they didn't play. Alabama beat Georgia no one else got to play. Therefore:

1. Alabama
2. Georgia
3-14. N/A

0-0 is better than 0-1. ;)

And before anyone says it, yes I'd rather SC had been in the SECCG.  UGA should be #2 based on the week's performance coupled with the season results.

It's not the first time it's happened, don't know why the whole world seems surprised by it.

Any team in the SEC Championship forfeits their right to a BCS bowl by actually being able to play for one.

Kentucky was 6-6 2 years ago when Mike Hartline was the QB and he put up some good numbers and we were one of the top offensive teams in the SEC but consequently we were already DOWN by like 3 TD's when we started to put up the numbers.  Tennessee is probably similar in this route but also probably were turnover prone.

No, our defense was one of the worst in SEC history.

Arkansas 2006
Tennessee 2007
South Carolina 2010
Georgia 2011

etc...

none belonged in a BCS game

Also, I'm not even trashing Georgia at this point.
Just exhausted that no matter what happens, their fans think they still don't seem to get enough respect.

Hold your horses. I never said that it should be a blanket rule that both teams go. But the rule keeping only 2 teams from one conference is crap when teams like NIU get to go.

Final Thoughts: It's been pretty crazy just how clearly defined the upper and lower tier of the conference was this season. With very few exceptions, the top six has remained isolated from the lower 8 for the majority of the year. I can't remember a time when there was such a drop-off between the top and the bottom, but I can't remember ever a time when six SEC teams finished the season ranked in the BCS top 10, either.

I appreciate you all taking the time to read and comment on these power rankings throughout the season, I know we've had a lot of fun and heated debate with them. I look forward to doing them again next year.

Thanks HobnailedBoots for doing this feature all season.  It was easily one my favorite reads each and every week.  Despite being a blind homer during all our "normal" board exchanges, I believe you set all of that aside when you put these together. I look forward to next years' installment.
