I think that probably played into it. Also part of the problem, IMO. Sounds like the AU administration is still not planning on giving control of the program to the HC. Why else would you bring in a coach and say "these assistants are staying?"

I bet we keep almost everybody, which makes sense for a football program with a ton of discipline issues and lack of respect between players and coaches.

It makes no sense at all... Not sure what you Bammers have in the way of info, but I've heard some very disappointing things from a Bammer friend as to why Smart didn't wind up being the coach. Disappointing things on Auburn's end.

I would of personally like a defensive minded coach, one that actually was involved with the defense. Unlike Chizik.

Interesting hires today, none the less.

If Auburn seriously used that short call as the "interview" and that's all there is to that, then our administration is either fawking with us or they have no idea what they are doing. A 15 minute call does not placate the Auburn fans that want him.

From someone who claims to know Smart, he wanted Pat Dye's involvement with the program to end and Auburn more or less wasn't interested in that happening. Basically, Smart rightfully wanted full control with no meddling and we apparently love our meddling too much.

That doesn't surprise me, just look at this Gus hire. That's freakin sad, makes me kinda mad. I know I'm suppose to dislike/hate Auburn, but that's just pitiful. Someone needs to wake them up over there, guess that won't happen until another couple bad seasons come out. Never know though, Gus may light it up....maybe.
