Fire and Ice, you say?

How about a Song of Ice and Fire?

Would that make Mark Richt a Stark, and Nick Saban a Lannister?

If so...that doesn't bode well for Richt. He certainly meets the critera...loyal and honorable to a fault at times, while Saban as a Lannister is often viewed as cut-throat, willing to do anything to further stuff his coffers, and pretty much lays waste to the land.

It's an interesting analogy, for sure.

But the story is unfinished. You don't know, House Stark may prevail in the end.

Yeah, and I might not know...because the author seems to 'lose interest' in the story after the third book, and things just seem to ramble on and on...so I'm having difficulty really getting into book 4. haha

Book four is the weakest of the bunch. Five and six are much better.

Very well done article by Gentry Estes of 247 sports, who has spent both three years covering Alabama under Saban and three covering Georgia under Richt. Worth the read.

Great article.  I admire Richt a great deal.... and Saban is a strange beast and I find him very perplexing. Sometimes I hold my breath during the halftime interview because he seems to over-react to any question.  Then when Alabama gets a big lead, Saban will loose his freakin mind over the simpliest error.  If the man doesn't learn to relax, he will have a coronary on the sideline.

Saban is a Lannister? Maybe... he is similar physically to Tyrion for sure. Personality wise he is like Tywin. I wonder if Saban shits gold?
