Wow, just wow...

Auburn has the trickiest coaching vacancy to fill, maybe the trickiest college football vacancy of my lifetime. There's not much to offer Auburn in the way of advice, other than this:

Any candidate willing to take this job should be crossed off the list. Because he must be a moron.

As long as the NCAA doesn't put them on probation or anything I'd say they definitely have the most upside. History (UT) can only take you so far. Auburn has so much talent and its so easy to recruit there

If you read the article he's basically saying that anyone would be foolish to want to compete head to head with Saban.  What a joke, I have a hard time seeing an elite level coach that wouldn't want the challenge of going against the best.  Otherwise all the best coaches would be flocking to the ACC and the Big East.

Thats laughable.  Coaches Egos are so big they are willing to take on any challenge and most thrive in that environment.

I didn't read the article because it's a stupid notion right off the bat.

Alabama was on probation when Saban took that job, USC was when Kiffin took that job, Penn State is royally Posted Imageed over, etc. plenty of schools have hired new coaches in the wake of bad stuff and Auburn hasn't even been slapped with a single violation for any of this stuff yet, LOL.

Read another article similar to this and they all have a few points in common.

1. SEC
2. In the state of Alabama (Saban, recruiting, rivalry, etc.)
3. Too many guys in Auburn have pull in the program and any coach that goes there will be under their say.

The 3rd is interesting because Chizik was hired to pretty much take orders from the others and share the same views.  I'm not sure a big named coach would be willing to do that.

If you don't wanna go head to head with Saban, not only do we not want you, but why are you even in coaching in the first place?

Exactly. I think that argument is stupid.  For a young up and coming coach sure maybe it wouldn't be the smartest move and try out somewhere else first and gain some rep but for a bigger name it should be no problem.

Gregg Doyel doing his usual sensationalist stuff. Knew as soon as I saw it was from CBSSports that he probably wrote it. I love seeing Auburn down as much as any Alabama fan, but let's be real...it's a hell of a program that is still in the national hotbed for high school talent. No, it won't be "easy" to win at Auburn, but they have the resources it takes to become a perennial top 15 program again.

Auburn is a top 20 job at worst. Saban or no Saban.
