You say dropping all the way down like there are a ton of bowl eligible SEC teams you're ahead of. Other than Ole Miss, every other SEC team that's going bowling has a better conference record than you. And Ole Miss is 3-5 while yall are 4-4....and like I said the Rebels played a tougher schedule, looked more competitive in their losses, and beat yall head to head. Don't act like a bowl taking them over yall is some giant travesty.

Gator Bowl would not take a hit in the wallet for a lower bowl..... They are already financially strapped and need at least one team that will travel in decent amounts.
I agree.
IMO we would travel better to BHam anyway. Just not likely we will be in AL for a bowl. Vandy would have to be taken by Gator. Gator wants at least one team that will travel decently. They are financially strapped and cant take a large hit in the wallet.

This is what State fans need to hear right now. It isn't fun, they are just better than we are this year. We don't deserve anything better than the MCB, IMHO. Besides, fellas, do we want to play in a better bowl and likely get our brains beaten out?

something would have to be going on behind the scenes. No way someone takes a 6-6 team over and 8-4. There is a pecking order to follow if memory serves.

There is a tentative one. Bowls aren't bound by it though. And with the way we finished, along with the enthusiasm the Ole Miss fans have shown the last few weeks (rushing the field after beating an unranked team and what-not) I think it is a safe bet to think that the Rebels will travel better and spend more money on whatever bowl that MSU will this year. It is a no-brainer for any bowl to pick Ole Miss over us this season.

interesting. I didn't think the bowls had that much control. I mean it's their bowl so they should I guess have the right to offer whatever to whomever but for some reason I thought they couldn't take a team with a lower record over a team with a higher one.

Kind of, but not really. The Capital One Bowl must take the non BCS SEC team with the best record, or within one game of the best record. After that it's generally assumed the Cotton takes a West team and the Outback takes an East. Then the Chik-Fil-A picks...then Gator. And so on and so forth. Besides the BCS bowls and a few others it's not like bowls are required to pick certain teams. If that was the case there would be a lot less speculation.
okay. That makes sense.

They can but depending on the circumstances the SEC may or may not allow it. There have been instances where the SEC front office stepped in and said no...

If we played Northwestern in the Gator I believe we'd beat them.
