Per Phillip Marshall's website, Auburn has fired Gene Chizik. I cannot link (I'm on my POS Blackberry) and I cannot give any further details. All I have to go on is a email I just got from them saying Chizik is done. If I find out any more, I will share it here.

If only they will also fire Jay Jacobs.... The thought of that bum handling the coaching search turns my stomach. Thanks for sharing this news though!

I checked Phillip Marshall's twitter and it mentions a write up on his site. I do not have access though so I can't pull it up.

I don't think its anything official.
I don't have access to AUC, but reading the comments under the article, it looks like Phillip is just saying that there is now absolutly no way on earth that Chizik will keep his job.
I wonder if I should change my avatar...?

If they've waited this long, I bet they wait a little bit longer (early December) so they don't have to pay as much of a buyout.

may as well bmfp is on his way anyways.
No SEC school will ever hire BMFP again. Ever. No AD or Chancellor is going to do this.... because the SEC jobs are the cream jobs and SEC schools don't have to resort to hiring people with known major character issues.

It's not official, PM says it may as well be but nobody has told him yet.
I kept failing a math test at the University of Alabama because every time I added 5+3 I got 8 and they kept insisting that the right answer was 14.

You want to be the AD or Chancellor who invites the inevitable train wreck into town?
Plus, the school that hires him is going to look desperate. There's plenty of great coaching talent for the SEC schools without Petrino.
