Its not coming from academics, the money is athletic money that the athletic department has/was going to give to the university.  But don't let the facts get in the way.

Also this statement is why Vandy will never do what it takes to finish higher than 4th in the East.

How's the athletic department have $18mm to give when they operated in te red last year? Didn't they just cut a whole bunch of jobs in the AD too? If its donor money, that's one thing but I don't think that's the case here.

A) its 6M over 3 years starting this year.

B) They operated in the red last because they gave a large sum to the university as they have been.  Most other schools in the conference don't give as much which was why the AD complained and got the amount that department donates every year reduced for three years.  The money has always been there it was just in one account and now its in another.  Its just accounting.
